The short answer: if the whole job is sending a link when someone comments a keyword, LinkDM does it for less: its free plan sends up to 1,000 DMs a month from one Instagram account, and Pro at $19 a month sends up to 25,000 per account across three accounts (LinkDM pricing). Once the DM has to branch, tag people, feed a CRM or move a buyer to WhatsApp, ManyChat is the tool, and Pro at $39 a month for 2,500 people who interact is where those pieces arrive (ManyChat Pro plan). Both checked on 26 October 2026.

Rule of thumb, before either sign-up:
- Price the reel that takes off. For example, 4,000 people comment "LINK" in one month. On LinkDM Pro that is 4,000 DMs inside the 25,000 limit, so $19. On ManyChat each commenter is an Active Contact: Pro is $39 + 1,500 x $0.05 = $114, and Business at $99 already covers 7,500 people (Active Contacts, Business plan).
- Start from where your links already live. An Amazon storefront, an LTK shop or a Linktree page only needs the link delivered, and LinkDM says it sends traffic to those pages rather than replacing them (LinkDM homepage). A course, a booking or a sales call needs questions asked first, and that is flow work.
- Count what the DM produced. Link clicks per 100 commenters for a link job; emails captured per 100 for a list job. LinkDM tracks link clicks on the DMs it sends; ManyChat shows Active Contacts by date range in Insights.

Where they part ways
The unit on the invoice
LinkDM meters DMs sent: 1,000, 25,000 or 300,000 a month by plan (pricing). ManyChat meters people: anyone who interacts through an automation during the billing month counts once, however many messages they exchange (Active Contacts). For a creator whose audience comments once and leaves, the DM meter is cheaper. For a brand whose buyers come back to the DMs three or four times before purchase, the person meter stops looking expensive, because repeat conversations cost nothing extra.
LinkDM's own ManyChat comparison quotes ManyChat at $165 for 25,000 DMs in its text and $199 in its table, which tells you how hard it is to price a person-based product in DMs. Run your own sum instead.
How far the conversation goes
LinkDM's paid features stay close to the first DM: comment auto-replies, reminder DMs, email capture in chat, a DM planner for scheduled posts, and lead forms its homepage says connect to Kit and Flodesk (pricing, homepage). It covers Instagram and Facebook. ManyChat is a general automation builder on Instagram, TikTok, Messenger and Telegram, with WhatsApp, SMS, email, CRM integrations and the ManyChat API joining on Pro. The first sells one excellent move; the second sells the whole game.
Viral days
LinkDM sells tools for traffic spikes: Rewind on Pro to back-send DMs to comments that were missed, and a DM overflow queue on Platinum+ at $99 a month (pricing). ManyChat's answer to a spike is a bill rather than a queue: automations keep running and the extra people are charged as overage after notices at 70%, 90% and 100% of the limit (Active Contacts).
Prices, read on 26 October 2026
LinkDM, in US dollars (pricing): Free, one account and 1,000 DMs a month; Pro $19 a month or $182 a year, three accounts and 25,000 DMs per account; Platinum+ $99 a month or $832 a year, ten accounts and 300,000 DMs. No card for the free plan.
ManyChat, in US dollars on monthly billing: Free for 25 Active Contacts; Essential $17 for 250, then $0.10 per extra person; Pro $39 for 2,500, then $0.05. Annual billing lowers these to $14 and $29 a month, as both the Essential and Pro articles and the pricing page state; that page loaded once that day and blocked later reads.
An AI step on the comments themselves
LinkDM lists no AI features on its homepage or pricing page. ManyChat's AI Comments recognises positive comments on your posts and reels and replies to them in your tone (AI Comments). Under ManyChat AI, Skills, choose AI Comments and click Set AI's Tone: it reads your past comment replies and writes five example responses. This is the human check, and it is a real one. Read all five aloud; if any sounds like someone else, click Not My Style and adjust before Turn On AI Comments. The feature is Instagram-only, in beta and needs a paid plan with ManyChat AI, so keep the link itself on a keyword automation and let AI handle only the thank-yous.
Test on the free plans first
Give each tool its own post and its own keyword so no comment triggers both, then run them for two weeks. LinkDM's free plan needs no card; ManyChat's free plan carries its branding message on first contact (Free plan). Compare link clicks per 100 commenters.
Read LinkDM's free tier closely before relying on it. When the send limit is reached, the homepage FAQ says Pro queues waiting DMs for the start of the next hour, while Free resumes only for new comments, and back-sending missed ones is the Pro feature called Rewind (LinkDM homepage, pricing): the plan that costs nothing is the one that drops a commenter silently, and the recovery is sold one tier up.
Choose ManyChat if your job is
- Turning commenters into email subscribers, booked calls or buyers through several questions.
- Moving Instagram or TikTok leads into WhatsApp to close the sale.
- Adding AI to comment and DM replies on Instagram.
Choose LinkDM if your job is
- Delivering an affiliate or shop link to everyone who comments a keyword.
- Running up to three Instagram accounts on one $19 plan.
- Handling viral reels with a queue and back-sending instead of overage.
