The short answer: if a reel brings 1,800 people into your comments in a month, Manychat's Pro plan answers every one of them with a DM for $39 on monthly billing, because it bills people who interact, 2,500 included; Tidio would turn each of those comments into a ticket, and replying to them all would need its $349 Growth tier (Manychat Pro plan, Tidio pricing, Tidio comments article, checked on 26 October 2026). Turn it round and the answer flips: if shoppers start on your website and carry on by email or WhatsApp, Tidio is the help desk built for that, with an AI agent that follows them across channels.

Manychat, often written ManyChat, blocked automated reading of its pricing page on 26 October 2026, so its figures here come from its help centre plan articles, read the same day.
Before you choose, run three numbers:
- Price the busy month. For example, those 1,800 commenters on Manychat Essential cost $17 plus 1,550 over the limit at $0.10, $17 + $155 = $172, so Pro at $39 is the cheaper plan as soon as a post takes off (Essential plan). On Tidio, a flow cannot be started by a comment; its Instagram triggers are a message, a story reply or an agent (Instagram Flows).
- Check the account you already have. Manychat connects Business and Creator accounts (connection guide). Tidio needs an Instagram Business account linked to a Facebook Page, and says creator accounts do not support the integration (Instagram integration).
- Pick the number that proves it. For Manychat, emails or phone numbers captured per 100 commenters. For Tidio, orders from people who chatted. Take last month's figure first.
What each one is
| Tidio | Manychat | |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | Conversations a person replies to, 10 seats included | Active Contacts, people who interact in the billing month |
| Free plan | 50 human conversations a month, 50 Lyro conversations once | 25 Active Contacts, 4 live automations, Manychat branding on first contact |
| Starts the conversation | A website visitor, an email, a DM or a story reply | A comment on a post or reel, a keyword DM, a story reply, a follow |
| Instagram comments | Arrive as tickets for your team to answer | Trigger a public reply and a private DM automatically |
| Free integration; templates on Growth and above | Pro and above | |
| WhatsApp message fees | Meta's rates passed on with no markup | Manychat's own rate card, charged to a wallet |
| AI | Lyro, on the channels you allow, including website chat and email | AI Step in flows; AI Replies on Instagram only, in beta |

Where they differ
Where the first message comes from
Manychat is built to start conversations from social activity. A keyword under a post sends a public reply, rotated between variations you write, and a private DM. Its help centre adds a detail worth knowing: the DM alone does not open Instagram's 24-hour window; the person has to reply or tap a button first (comments trigger). Tidio is built to receive conversations: website chat, email, DMs and comments land in one inbox, where people and Lyro answer them.
Who sets the WhatsApp price
Tidio bills WhatsApp use above 1,000 free messages per number at the end of the month and says it adds no markup to Meta's fees (Tidio WhatsApp article). Manychat publishes its own card: $0.1569 per marketing message to a German number, against $0.1365 on Meta's USD rate card (Manychat WhatsApp pricing guide). For example, 2,000 promotional messages to German customers cost 2,000 x $0.1569 = $313.80 through Manychat and 2,000 x $0.1365 = $273.00 at Meta's rate. Service replies are $0.0550 on both cards.
How far the AI reaches
Lyro works on whichever connected channels you switch on for it, website chat and email included, and in email it replies once, when a ticket arrives (Lyro article, Lyro limit article). Manychat's AI Step runs inside a flow on Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok and Telegram, and AI Replies answer Instagram questions from a knowledge library, still in beta (AI Step, AI Replies). Manychat's AI sits in the funnel; Tidio's sits in the support queue.
Plans and prices
Checked on 26 October 2026, in US dollars on monthly billing.
Tidio, from its pricing page: Free; Starter $29 for 100 human conversations; Growth from $59 for 250 to $349 for 2,000; Lyro from $39 for 50 conversations. Seats are included up to 10.
Manychat, from its help centre: Free for 25 Active Contacts; Essential $17 for 250, then $0.10 each; Pro $39 for 2,500, then $0.05 each, with 2 inbox seats and up to 3 at $25 per extra seat (Essential plan, Pro plan). Annual billing brings these to $14 and $29. WhatsApp, SMS and email start on Pro.
One AI step: Lyro on DMs after hours
In Tidio, open Lyro's Channels section, allow it on Instagram and choose to respond only when your agents are offline (Lyro article). Lyro then reads each evening DM, answers from the sources you approved, and hands over or creates a ticket when it cannot. Comments stay out of its reach: they arrive as tickets, and a person answers them in the morning along with whatever Lyro passed on. That person also reads ten of Lyro's DM answers each day for the first two weeks. Meta gives you up to 7 days to reply to an Instagram message, per Tidio's Instagram article, so nothing is lost overnight.
On Manychat, the equivalent is AI Replies with the Assign to a person box ticked, so a question the AI cannot answer goes to a named teammate. Either way an AI is talking to customers, and the store support use case covers what Article 50 of the EU AI Act asks of the first message; Meta's own messaging windows are set out in the DM agent use case.
Choose Tidio if your job is
- Answering shoppers who start on your website and continue by email, WhatsApp or DM.
- Running one help desk where up to 10 people and an AI agent share the queue.
- Paying Meta's WhatsApp rates without a platform markup.
Choose Manychat if your job is
- Turning comments under posts and reels into DMs, leads and sales.
- Paying per person who engages, so a quiet audience costs nothing.
- Running a creator account, which Tidio's Instagram integration does not accept.
Plans for each sit in the Tidio entry and the Manychat entry.
Start on the free plans
Both free plans can run the real job for a month. Put Manychat's Free plan on one post with a keyword and an email question, and connect Instagram to Tidio's Free plan to see how many of your DMs are pre-sale questions a help desk should own. Then compare the two numbers from the list at the top.
Manychat's Free plan carries a cost that never appears on an invoice: the first time it messages a contact, a "Powered by Manychat" branding message appears, and only a paid plan removes it (Free plan), so every person your free automation reaches also receives an advert for the vendor.
FAQ
Can Tidio auto-reply to Instagram comments?
Not with a flow: Tidio's Instagram flow triggers are a visitor message, a story reply and agent actions, and comments arrive as tickets to answer (Instagram Flows, comments article). Your replies there are published under the post.
Which plan do I need for WhatsApp?
On Manychat, Pro or above; Free and Essential do not offer it (Pro plan). On Tidio, the integration is free on every plan, but sending templates after the 24-hour window needs Growth, Plus or Premium (WhatsApp templates).
Do story replies work on both?
Yes. Manychat's Free plan already includes automations that reply when someone responds to your story (Free plan). Tidio shows story replies and mentions in its panel and can start a flow from a story reply, with the reactions you choose as the trigger (Instagram Flows).
