The short answer: if your leads arrive on a landing page and have to reach HubSpot qualified, Landbot is the tool, and the plan that connects HubSpot is Professional at $110 a month on monthly billing for 2,500 chats (Landbot pricing). If they arrive as comments and DMs under your Instagram or TikTok posts, ManyChat is, from $17 a month on Essential for 250 people who interact, with WhatsApp joining on Pro at $39 (ManyChat Essential plan, Pro plan). Both read on 26 October 2026. One is a front door for your website, the other a reply engine for your feed.

Before you choose:

  1. Run the overage on your real numbers. Landbot counts a chat per 24 hours across all channels and sells extra chats in 500-chat packs at $25 (pricing). For example, 2,650 chats in a month on Professional is 150 over, which buys one pack: $110 + $25 = $135. ManyChat counts people, not chats, so 2,650 people on Pro is 150 x $0.05 = $7.50 over $39 (Active Contacts).
  2. Look at where last quarter's leads came from. Your form tool and your Instagram inbox already hold the answer. If most leads filled a form on your site, replace the form with Landbot. If most began as a comment, ManyChat replaces the manual reply.
  3. Agree what a qualified lead is before building either. Write the three answers that make someone worth a call, and measure the share of conversations that reach them.

What separates them

The doorway

Landbot lives where a visitor already is: a widget on the pricing page, a conversation instead of a form, a WhatsApp number on the contact page. Its plan table lists web, Messenger, API chat and WhatsApp, and no Instagram. ManyChat lives in the feed. Its triggers are a keyword under a post, a story reply, a new follower, and its Auto-DM links Quick Automation can fire on one post, on every post, or on the next one you publish. A visitor who never comments is invisible to ManyChat; a commenter is invisible to Landbot.

Who gets the lead afterwards

Landbot's FAQ says handing a chat to a person with full context starts on Starter, with a shared inbox where each person uses a seat, and that HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho, Google Sheets and webhooks start on Professional (pricing FAQ). ManyChat's Essential plan syncs contacts to Google Sheets, and its Pro plan adds CRM integrations and the ManyChat API (Pro plan). A team routing leads to reps needs the CRM list; a creator collecting newsletter emails rarely needs more than the sheet.

What WhatsApp costs on each

Both charge you twice: once for the plan, once per message. Landbot's own WhatsApp number comes with Professional WA at $220 a month, and the full plan table adds Meta's cost plus €0.05 per marketing, utility or authentication message, while the plan tooltips on the same page describe Meta's fee plus a flat 20% from Landbot (pricing); ask which one your contract uses before a large send. ManyChat puts WhatsApp on Pro and deducts each message from a wallet at its own published rate (WhatsApp pricing guide). The messaging windows and opt-in rules are the same on both and live in the DM agent use case.

What you would pay, checked on 26 October 2026

Landbot's figures are from its pricing page; annual billing takes 20% off and accounts billed from the EU pay in euros. ManyChat's monthly figures are from its plan articles, including the Business plan; its pricing page, readable once that day, showed annual equivalents of $14, $29 and $69 a month.

The free test

Both free plans can run the real job for a month. Put Landbot's Free plan on the landing page where the most visitors abandon the form, and ManyChat's Free plan on your next post with one keyword. Count leads per 100 visitors on one and per 100 commenters on the other.

The bill that follows has one structural detail. Landbot sells overage in 500-chat packs at $25, so a single chat past the allowance pays Landbot for 500 of them; the step is sized by the seller, not by your traffic (pricing).

An agent builds the Landbot flow, you approve the publish

Landbot's MCP lets Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor build agents in your account (MCP guide). Add a custom connector named Landbot with the address https://mcp.landbot.io/mcp, sign in, and describe the job: "On the demo page, ask company size, current tool and timeline, and save every lead to a Google Sheet." The assistant builds it, returns a plain-words summary, and asks before publishing; each yes covers one publish (build, test and publish article).

The human check has one gap to know about. The same article says new Knowledge Base sources for an AI Agent go live as soon as Landbot has read them, with no publish step. So the person who approves publishing also approves sources: only add a page to the knowledge base once it is ready for visitors to see.

Choose Landbot if your job is

  • Replacing a website form with a conversation that qualifies and routes the lead.
  • Sending qualified leads straight into HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or Zoho.
  • Running a WhatsApp number for enquiries that start on your site.

Choose ManyChat if your job is

  • Answering comments under posts and reels with a DM that carries the link.
  • Collecting emails from an Instagram or TikTok audience on a small budget.
  • Paying per person who engages rather than per conversation.

When the leads end up in two places

If the test shows web leads landing in HubSpot while DM leads sit in a spreadsheet nobody owns, the bot is not the problem. The stack is, and a one-week review like the Startup Fixer, which I sell, maps it before you buy either.

FAQ

Can Landbot reply to Instagram comments?

Its pricing page lists web, Messenger, API chat and WhatsApp, and no Instagram channel (pricing). For comment replies, ManyChat is the one built for it.

Do Landbot's AI chats count against the normal chat allowance?

They are tracked separately. Starter includes 100 AI chats a month, Professional 300 and Professional WA 500; each one beyond is $0.10 (pricing).

What happens when the trials end?

Landbot's 14-day trial moves you to the Free plan with no card asked for (pricing FAQ). ManyChat's Essential and Pro trials run 14 days, and Business has none (Business plan).
