SocialBee vs Buffer: Evergreen Categories or a One-Pass Queue

The short answer: if you own a library of evergreen posts, such as guides, articles and FAQs, and want them to cycle by theme without rebuilding the queue every month, SocialBee is designed for it: content categories that re-queue posts indefinitely, from $29 a month for 5 profiles on Bootstrap (SocialBee pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). If most posts are new each week and go out once, Buffer does that for $6 a channel, and its Team plan adds unlimited colleagues at $12 a channel (Buffer pricing).

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

SocialBee changes what a queue is. In Buffer, a queue is a line of posts that publish once in order, which you can rearrange or shuffle. In SocialBee, the schedule calls for a category, such as "Educational" or "Behind the scenes", and the next post in that category goes out; set the category to re-queue and it starts again from the top when it runs out (category guide). One model suits a newsroom. The other suits a back catalogue.

Questions to answer with your own content:

  1. How long is your evergreen cycle? For example, 40 evergreen posts published at 2 a day come round again every 20 days. SocialBee's Bootstrap plan holds 10 categories of up to 1,000 posts each, and Accelerate 50 categories of up to 5,000 (SocialBee pricing), so the limit is your library, not the plan.
  2. What share of last quarter's posts could run again? Sort them into evergreen and share-once, the two types SocialBee's guide separates. If most were announcements and offers, recycling has little to work with and Buffer's simpler queue is enough.
  3. Does a repeat perform? Compare each recycled post's second outing with its first on reach and comments. If repeats hold up, the category model pays; if they fade, shorten the cycle or expire posts after a set number of runs.

What separates them

Recycling is the product

SocialBee's guide describes two ways to make content evergreen: re-publish one post a set number of times, or set a whole category to re-queue, sharing each post in turn and jumping back to the first (category guide). Posts can also expire after a number of runs or on a date. Buffer's pricing page lists a queue you can rearrange or shuffle and posts you can duplicate, and no automatic recycling (Buffer pricing). For a brand with two years of guides, that difference is weekly hours. For a brand that posts news, it is nothing.

Seats and profiles are priced differently

SocialBee includes one user per workspace on Bootstrap and Accelerate and three on Pro, with extra users at $10 a month, extra workspaces at $10 and sets of five profiles at $15 (SocialBee pricing). Buffer's Team plan has no seat price at all. A team of four on SocialBee Accelerate pays for three extra users; on Buffer Team it pays for channels only.

An AI step that ends in an approval screen

SocialBee's Copilot guide is explicit about the hand-off. Copilot reads your website for your services, tone and audience, recommends networks, suggests categories, and generates draft posts with captions, hashtags and images. Then it sends you to a Content Approval Dashboard, where each draft is edited, approved, left as a draft or assigned to a colleague with a note. The guide also says your data is not used to train AI models and that Copilot runs on OpenAI's API. The human check is the dashboard: nothing Copilot writes is scheduled until someone approves it. If you build it, start with one category of ten drafts and read every one; a walkthrough of the whole queue is in How to Use SocialBee to Build an Evergreen Content Queue.

Both price lists

Checked on 26 October 2026 on the SocialBee pricing page and the Buffer pricing page. SocialBee prints yearly prices per year; Buffer prints them per month.

SocialBee's trial opens on full Pro access: 25 profiles, three users per workspace and five workspaces (SocialBee pricing). Two weeks of building on that makes the $99 Pro plan SocialBee's natural next sale, rather than the $29 Bootstrap plan you came to try, so set the trial up with only the profiles and people you will pay for.

Choose SocialBee if

  • Your job is keeping a back catalogue of evergreen posts in rotation by theme, with expiry rules.
  • You want an AI to propose a whole strategy from your website and hand you drafts to approve.
  • One or two people run up to 25 profiles, where Pro's flat price beats per-channel rates.

Choose Buffer if

  • Your job is publishing new posts each week, once each, with colleagues who should not cost a seat.
  • You want an AI assistant such as Claude to work in the account through an MCP server, or n8n in the loop.
  • You want to start on a free plan: three channels and 10 scheduled posts each (Buffer pricing).

FAQ

Does Buffer recycle posts automatically?

Its pricing page lists a queue that can be rearranged or shuffled and a duplicate-post feature, and no automatic re-queueing (Buffer pricing). To repeat a post you duplicate it and schedule it again.

Is there a free SocialBee plan?

The pricing page lists three paid plans, Bootstrap, Accelerate and Pro, with a 14-day trial of full Pro access, no card, and a 30-day money-back guarantee; it shows no free tier (SocialBee pricing).

How many people can use SocialBee on one plan?

One per workspace on Bootstrap and Accelerate, three per workspace on Pro, with five workspaces on Pro; each extra user is $10 a month or $100 a year, per the pricing page. The FAQ also names agency plans, Pro50, Pro100 and Pro150, for teams managing many clients.
