SocialBee vs Hootsuite: Recycled Queues or Dated Uploads

The short answer: if most of what you post is evergreen, such as articles, guides and FAQs, and one person runs it, SocialBee re-queues it by category on Accelerate at $49 a month on monthly billing for 10 profiles (SocialBee pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Hootsuite schedules posts to dates: its Bulk Composer takes up to 350 at once from a CSV and refuses duplicates, which suits a calendar of one-off posts and a team that also answers customers, from $99 per user a month billed annually (Hootsuite plans).

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

The two tools disagree about what a post is. In SocialBee a post is a member of a category that comes round again until you retire it. In Hootsuite a post is an entry on a calendar, published once at the time you gave it, inside a suite that also runs an inbox, listening and ads.

Sort your library first:

  1. Work out how long a category lasts. For example, 40 evergreen articles with 3 post variants each make 120 posts; at two posts a day on one profile, the category runs 120 / 2 = 60 days before the first repeat. SocialBee's Bootstrap plan allows 1,000 posts per category and 10 categories, per its pricing page, so for this library the cap is not the constraint.
  2. Split what you already have into two piles. Export your published URLs and mark each one evergreen or share-once. Launches, offers and event posts are share-once, or evergreen with an end date.
  3. Decide how you will judge a repeat. Tag every link with UTM parameters and compare clicks on a post's second and third outing with its first. If the repeats earn a fraction of the first run, shorten the cycle or retire the post.

Where the choice falls

Recycling as a setting, not a habit

SocialBee's evergreen guide describes a category of ten articles being shared one by one and then started again from the top, for as long as the category is set to re-queue. Its expiry guide stops a post after a set number of shares or at a date, and archives it so it can be brought back later from posting history. Hootsuite's Bulk Composer guide works the other way: each row needs a future date and time ending in 0 or 5, at least 20 minutes out, one post per slot, and duplicates are not allowed. In Hootsuite, a repeat is a new scheduled post with a new date.

Who else needs a login

SocialBee's Bootstrap and Accelerate plans each include one user and one workspace; Pro includes 3 users per workspace across 5 workspaces, and an extra user costs $10 a month on monthly plans or $100 a year on yearly ones (SocialBee pricing). Hootsuite sells every login as a seat. For one person, SocialBee is the lighter bill. For a care team of four answering messages all day, Hootsuite's inbox and its per-seat logic are the point.

Letting Copilot fill a category

SocialBee's Copilot guide starts from your website address, builds a profile of your business, proposes categories, and writes draft posts with images into them. New categories are added on top of your existing setup rather than replacing it, and Copilot runs on OpenAI's API. The human check matters more here than in a dated calendar: a draft approved into a re-queuing category does not go out once, it goes out every cycle. So read each draft in the approval dashboard, and set an expiry on anything that mentions a price, a date or a person before it joins the rotation.

The price lists

Checked on 26 October 2026, in USD.

  • SocialBee Bootstrap: $29 a month monthly or $290 a year; 5 profiles, 1 user, 10 categories (SocialBee pricing).
  • SocialBee Accelerate: $49 a month or $490 a year; 10 profiles, 1 user, 50 categories, CSV uploads and approvals (same page).
  • SocialBee Pro: $99 a month or $990 a year; 25 profiles, 3 users per workspace, 5 workspaces. Agency tiers start at $179 a month for 50 profiles (same page).
  • Hootsuite, per user a month on annual billing: Standard $99 for 10 accounts, Professional $199 and Advanced $399 for unlimited accounts (Hootsuite plans).

Choose SocialBee if

  • Your job is keeping a library of evergreen posts in circulation with little weekly effort.
  • One or two people run social, and the budget is a flat plan rather than seats.
  • You want AI to propose categories and drafts that a person approves before they rotate.

Choose Hootsuite if

  • Your job is a dated campaign calendar plus a busy inbox, with care work routed and personal data masked.
  • You load campaigns in bulk and want each post published once.
  • Listening, competitor benchmarks or ads management belong in the same tool.

Build one category before paying

The free step is a single category. SocialBee's 14-day trial opens the full Pro plan without a card, and the pricing page adds a 30-day money-back guarantee. Load ten existing articles, set the category to re-queue, add UTM tags, and let it run through two cycles. Hootsuite's 14-day trial also needs no card, though bulk scheduling is switched off until you pay.

SocialBee's post approval system arrives on Accelerate, but Accelerate includes a single user, so a second person to do the approving costs $10 a month or a move up to Pro, per the pricing page. Price the approver along with the plan.

FAQ

Can Hootsuite recycle posts automatically?

Its plans page does not list recycling, and its Bulk Composer guide says duplicate posts are not allowed in an upload. Repeating a post means scheduling it again with a new date.

What happens when a SocialBee post expires?

The expiry guide says it is archived so it is not shared again, and it can be brought back from your posting history.

How many people can use one SocialBee plan?

One on Bootstrap and Accelerate, and three per workspace on Pro; agency tiers include five per workspace. Extra users are $10 a month on monthly billing.
