The short answer: fetching a landing page is easy. Knowing whether it still says what the ad said is the job. If that job covers your live Meta and Google ads and your monthly ad spend is under €75,000, buy AdAlign rather than build. Growth starts at €590 a month on an annual contract billed monthly, with the ad sync, scoring, spend and daily checks already done (AdAlign pricing, checked on 27 October 2026). Run the free audit on one ad to see the output you would otherwise have to build. Choose Firecrawl when ad alignment is one small part of a wider data pipeline your engineers own. Its Free plan gives 1,000 credits a month with no card (Firecrawl pricing).
Disclosure: I earn a commission if you buy AdAlign through a link on this page, and this page recommends it. Every claim about AdAlign links to AdAlign's own pages.
Do the sums first:
- Price the page side. For example, re-checking 60 landing pages a day as a basic scrape costs 60 x 30 = 1,800 credits a month. That is past the Free plan's 1,000 and inside Hobby's 5,000, at $16 a month billed annually. Ask for structured JSON and each page costs 4 credits more, so 60 x 5 x 30 = 9,000 credits, which needs Standard at $83 a month billed annually (Firecrawl pricing). That buys the page. Only the page.
- List what you already have. API access to Meta and Google Ads, an engineer with time, a model budget for the comparison, somewhere to store results. Each one you lack becomes part of the build. AdAlign's own Firecrawl page lists the parts it says you would add: ad sync, creative extraction for images and video, a rubric, spend per page, change detection, alerts and reports (AdAlign vs Firecrawl).
- Decide how you will know it works. Score 20 ad-to-page pairs by hand first, on four dimensions: visual, message, above the fold and tone. Then trust a checker, homemade or bought, only as far as it agrees with you. That agreement is the test.
Layers, not rivals
Firecrawl is infrastructure, and a lot of it. It searches, scrapes, maps and crawls the web, and returns pages as markdown, JSON, screenshots or HTML, JavaScript-heavy pages included (scrape docs). It is open source and reaches agents through an MCP server or a CLI (Firecrawl homepage). Its Monitor product even watches pages on a schedule and diffs each check against the last. Only what changed goes to a webhook, with an AI judge filtering the noise (Monitor). None of that tells it which ad sent the visitor.
AdAlign is an application with one job. It connects read-only to Meta and Google Ads and scores each live ad against its landing page out of 10, on four dimensions, naming the weakest. It adds up the spend on ads scoring below 5 for each landing page. Then it re-checks monitored pages daily and alerts by email or Slack (how it works).
Firecrawl answers what a page says. AdAlign answers whether it says what the ad said.
Side by side
| AdAlign | Firecrawl | |
|---|---|---|
| Who uses it | Media buyers, agencies, growth teams (use cases) | Developers and AI agents (Firecrawl homepage) |
| Knows about your ads | Yes, synced from Meta and Google Ads (how it works) | No; you send it URLs (scrape docs) |
| Comparison logic | Built in, one rubric grounded in the AdAlign Brain (Brain) | Yours to write |
| Change detection | Daily re-check and re-score of monitored pages (how it works) | Monitor: scheduled diffs to a webhook (Monitor) |
| Billing unit | Monitored ad spend band (pricing) | Credits: 1 per page on a basic scrape (Firecrawl pricing) |
| API | REST, Scale plan and above (developers) | REST with SDKs, every plan (Firecrawl pricing) |
The agent question: which API should it call?
If an agent is part of the plan, it can call either. The difference is what comes back.
From Firecrawl, the agent gets the page. The rest is its problem: fetch the ad from the platform APIs, write the comparison prompt, decide what counts as a mismatch, and hold that rubric steady from one run to the next.
From AdAlign, the agent gets the verdict. POST /api/analyze-ad takes an ad image URL, the platform and the landing page URL, and runs the evaluation. GET /api/fixes lists the fixes generated for it (developers). On Scale the pool is 1,500 evaluations a month across up to 20 keys, and failed evaluations are refunded. A request without a key runs as anonymous, 1 evaluation per IP a month. Enough to test the call. The human stays at the page: Variants drafts copy, and nothing goes live until someone publishes it (how it works).
What each would cost you
Checked on 27 October 2026 on the Firecrawl pricing page and the AdAlign pricing page.
| Firecrawl plan | Monthly | Billed annually, a month | Credits a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 1,000 |
| Hobby | $19 | $16 | 5,000 |
| Standard | $99 | $83 | 100,000 |
| Growth | $399 | $333 | 500,000 |
| Scale | $749 | $599 | 1,000,000 |
AdAlign's bands, from its pricing page: Growth from €590 a month up to €75,000 of monthly ad spend, and Scale from €1,290 up to €250,000 with the API. Portfolio runs from €2,490 up to €750,000, and Enterprise is custom. All exclude VAT, and all come after a €1,500 paid pilot credited to the first invoices. Firecrawl's line is cheaper, by a distance. It is also only the scraping line. Model calls, engineering hours and upkeep sit outside it, and so does the question of who carries that upkeep a year from now.
Every re-check is a billed page on Firecrawl. A page that answers 404 still costs 1 credit (Firecrawl pricing). So a checker you build to run daily turns your monitoring cadence into Firecrawl's volume.
Choose AdAlign if
- Your job is a ranked list of mismatched ads and pages, this month, without writing code.
- You need spend beside every finding, so the expensive mismatches get fixed first.
- You want an API that returns a score and fixes, not raw page content.
Choose Firecrawl if
- Your job is broader web data: competitor pages, SEO research, content for an AI product.
- You have engineers who want full control of the comparison and its rubric.
- Ad alignment is one feature inside a pipeline you already run.
Or run both. They do not overlap: Firecrawl for the research pipeline, AdAlign for the ad-to-page check.
Try both for free
Firecrawl's Free plan and AdAlign's anonymous API call cost nothing, and neither needs a card. Scrape one landing page in Firecrawl's playground. Run the same page and its ad through the AdAlign free audit. Put the two outputs side by side. If the AdAlign one is what you were about to build, AdAlign, which pays me a commission, saves you the build. Book a demo to see a whole account scored, then the pilot, then the band on the pricing page. The AdAlign glossary entry has the product in full.
FAQ
Does AdAlign run on Firecrawl?
No. AdAlign says it captures landing pages with its own pipeline: a rendered screenshot for the visual comparison, and the live page copy for the message comparison (AdAlign vs Firecrawl).
Can Firecrawl watch a landing page for changes?
Yes. Monitor checks on your schedule and sends the diff to a webhook (Monitor). It knows the page changed. It does not know which ads point at it.
Is AdAlign's API on the Growth plan?
No. API access starts on Scale, and every plan starts with a demo (developers).
