Who each one is for, in figures:

1. The first-year bill. For example, Chipp costs 12 x $299 = $3,588 a year, or $3,588 + $2,500 = $6,088 with a configured template (Chipp pricing). CustomGPT.ai Standard costs 12 x $99 = $1,188 on monthly billing, or 12 x $89 = $1,068 billed annually (CustomGPT.ai pricing).
2. What you already have in writing. CustomGPT.ai starts from a sitemap, PDFs, a help centre and files in 1,400+ formats, with each agent holding 5,000 documents on Standard (CustomGPT.ai pricing). Chipp now presents itself as a company that builds AI agents and software for you: its homepage offers a free 20-minute session in which its team builds a first tool live on your data, and promises a tool live in 30 days or the fee covered until it ships (Chipp). CustomGPT.ai sells a narrower thing done thoroughly: no-code assistants grounded in your content, with citations, a RAG API, a Slack deployment and a hosted MCP server for every agent (CustomGPT.ai pricing, MCP server).

CustomGPT.ai assumes your team builds, from a sitemap and a persona, and keeps engineers for Enterprise. With nobody free to build, Chipp fits; with someone free, CustomGPT.ai costs a third as much.

What each meter counts

On CustomGPT.ai a chat message spends 1 query credit and each agentic action adds its own charge on top: Lead Capture adds 2 on Standard, Web Search 3, Verify Responses 9 (actions cost). Chipp counts the model cost behind your agents in dollars, $100 a month included. One meter counts messages and actions, the other model spend, so agentic actions move the CustomGPT.ai bill and model choice moves the Chipp one.

Selling what you built

Chipp lets you sell access to a published agent through credit packages or subscriptions on your own Stripe account, keeping what you charge minus Stripe's card fee; buyers must sign up first (selling access). For a consultant selling a method as an assistant, that row decides it. CustomGPT.ai's pricing page lists white-labelling on Premium and says nothing about billing your own users.

An answer checked before it misleads anyone

The job: a website assistant answers questions on pricing and onboarding, and it must not invent a discount. In CustomGPT.ai, click the shield icon beside a response and choose Run for this response; Verify Responses extracts each claim, checks it against your source documents and returns a verified claims score (enable Verify Responses). A person reads the low scores and fixes the cause: a vague persona, poor retrieval or a missing page (audit guide). For example, on Standard each verified answer costs 1 + 9 = 10 query credits, so checking 30 answers a month uses 300 of the 1,000 (actions cost). On Chipp the same review runs from the Conversations tab, where every chat can be read in full and exported (analytics).

Chipp's own Pricing & Usage article still lists Builder at $29, Studio at $99 and Studio Pro at $299 a month; the pricing page shows one $299 plan, so ask which applies.

Chipp's plan includes $100 of AI usage and bills anything above it "at [usage rate]": those are the words printed where a figure belongs, in the plan box and again in the pricing FAQ (Chipp pricing). The overage price will be set once your agent is live and your data sits on the platform, the moment a customer is least likely to walk away. Get the rate in writing before the build session turns into a subscription.

Choose Chipp if your job is

• An agent or internal tool built with, or by, the vendor's team on your data.
• Selling access to an assistant that packages what you know.
• A team of any size using it, with no seat count.

Choose CustomGPT.ai if your job is

• A website assistant that answers only from your pages and shows its sources.
• Checking answers claim by claim against those sources.

Does either one work with Claude or ChatGPT?

Both document a route. Every CustomGPT.ai agent gets a hosted MCP server at no cost, so Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client can use its knowledge (MCP server). Chipp's MCP server lets Claude Code create apps, add knowledge sources and analyse conversations (Chipp with Claude Code).

Is there a free plan?

What if a CustomGPT.ai agent needs more than 1,000 queries?
