The short answer: if you build WordPress sites for clients, SEOPress PRO licenses unlimited sites for $149 a year and renews at that price, while Rank Math moves client work onto its Business plan at €24.99 a month billed annually, renewing at €335.88 a year, per the SEOPress pricing page and the Rank Math pricing page, both checked on 24 October 2026. For your company's own sites, with keyword tracking in the plugin, Rank Math is the stronger fit. For a client roster, white label and AI through a provider key you already pay for, SEOPress is.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

SEOPress changes one thing above all for an agency: the invoice in year three matches the invoice in year one. Rank Math changes something else. It folds rank tracking into the plugin licence and sells its AI as a product of its own. Both start free.

Before you move a client roster:

  1. Run three years for twelve client sites. SEOPress unlimited is 3 x $149 = $447 (SEOPress pricing). Rank Math Business is 12 x €24.99 = €299.88 in year one, then €335.88 a year at renewal, so €299.88 + €335.88 + €335.88 = €971.64 (Rank Math pricing). With five sites or fewer, SEOPress's $59 tier covers the lot.
  2. Export, then import. Rank Math's setup wizard lists SEOPress as an import source (setup guide). SEOPress migrates titles, descriptions, social metadata, settings and redirects from Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO and others, with the free version, and leaves the original data in the database so the old plugin can come back (SEOPress migration page).
  3. Settle where client rankings come from. Rank Math includes 500 tracked keywords on PRO and 10,000 on Business (pricing). SEOPress tracks rankings through its Insights plugin, $99 a year per site (SEOPress pricing). Search Console's free data is what either report should agree with, so record it on the day you switch.

What separates them

Who pays for the AI, and where. Rank Math AI is priced on its own page in three plans; Starter costs €5.99 a month billed annually, renewing at €6.99, with 15 long-form articles and 500 SEO fixes a month (Rank Math AI pricing). SEOPress PRO takes a key from your own provider, so the AI cost lands on an account you already run and audit. If you would rather not hold a key, SEOPress AI Credits start at $19 a month and route requests through SEOPress's own gateway (AI Credits page).

How an agent gets in. SEOPress 10.3, released on 1 October 2026, put an MCP server inside the plugin. It is off by default, needs no extra plugin and no API key, offers a read-only mode, and lets you switch tools off one by one (SEOPress 10.3 notes). Rank Math's MCP tools run through the WordPress MCP adapter and reach into configuration, from sitemap settings and module switches to an SEO audit of a competitor's site on PRO (Rank Math MCP tools).

What the free versions hold back. Rank Math's free plugin includes a redirection manager, a 404 monitor and a role manager (Rank Math on WordPress.org). SEOPress Free redirects a single post to another URL; rule-based 301 to 451 redirects, 404 monitoring and the broken link detector come with PRO (SEOPress plan comparison). SEOPress Free also promises no ads and no data collected, on the SEOPress homepage, a short list worth having when a client's legal team asks.

Prices side by side

SEOPress PRO, per year, excluding VAT, renewing at the same price: one site $49, five sites $59, unlimited sites $149. Insights, for rankings and backlinks, is $99 a year per site. Refunds run for 14 days. Source: the SEOPress pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026, which can also display euros.

Rank Math, per month billed annually, excluding VAT: PRO €7.99 then €8.99, Business €24.99 then €27.99, Agency €54.99 then €64.99. Its FAQ states the yearly renewals as €107.88, €335.88 and €779.88, and its 30-day refund covers new purchases, not renewals. Source: the Rank Math pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026.

One agent task, with the brakes on

A Monday job for an agency: find every page on a client site that has no meta description and fill the gaps. On SEOPress, turn the MCP feature on under SEO, Advanced, and approve the assistant's first connection in read-only mode. Ask it to list the pages and draft a description for each in the chat. A person checks the drafts against the client's tone and deletes the weak ones. Only then approve a second connection with write access and let it apply the survivors. SEOPress's notes say the assistant can never do more than the WordPress account behind it, and that any client can be cut off in one click (SEOPress 10.3 notes). On Rank Math, the same job runs through its post metadata and SEO score tools (Rank Math MCP tools).

The Rank Math AI trial that comes with PRO has an end date with a bill attached: once it ends, the pricing FAQ says, you are charged for the corresponding Content AI plan unless you cancel first (Rank Math pricing FAQ). A bundled trial is built to roll into a second subscription. Put the end date in the calendar on the day you activate it.

Choose Rank Math if

  • The sites belong to your own company and you want rankings tracked without an add-on.
  • You want redirects and a 404 monitor in the free plugin.
  • You prefer AI sold as one subscription by the plugin vendor, with monthly limits you can read on its page.

Choose SEOPress if

  • Your job is building and running sites for clients under your own brand, since white label comes with every PRO tier.
  • You want each renewal to cost what the first payment did.
  • Your team already holds a key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral or DeepSeek.

Read more in the Rank Math glossary entry. SEOPress has no entry on this site, so its own website is the place for detail.

FAQ

Can Rank Math import my SEOPress settings?

Yes. SEOPress is one of the plugins the import step of Rank Math's setup wizard reads from, beside Yoast SEO and AIOSEO (setup guide).

Do I need an API key for AI in SEOPress?

Not with AI Credits, from $19 a month: you paste one token from the confirmation email and SEOPress picks and maintains the model (AI Credits page). Without credits, PRO uses a key from one of five providers.

Is the SEOPress MCP server on the free plugin?

Yes, with 14 tools covering titles, descriptions, robots settings, social metadata, content analysis and site-wide reports; PRO adds 13 for redirections, schemas, target keywords, AI generation and the technical audit (SEOPress 10.3 notes).
