Search Atlas vs Rank Math: Who Ships the Fix

The short answer: if the fixes are already known but never reach the live site, across several client sites or on a CMS other than WordPress, Search Atlas is built for that gap: its OTTO pixel deploys changes itself, from $99 a month billed monthly for one site (Search Atlas pricing). If you run WordPress and someone on the team applies the fixes, Rank Math does the on-page work for free, or for €7.99 a month billed annually, excluding VAT, on PRO (Rank Math pricing). Both prices were checked on 24 October 2026.

These are not two versions of one product. Rank Math is where a WordPress site keeps its SEO fields. Search Atlas is a platform that reads pages from the outside, decides what to change and changes it, and on WordPress it can write into those same Rank Math fields. So the useful question is often not which one, but whether to run Search Atlas on top.
Before you let software edit live pages:
- Put a year of each side by side. Search Atlas Starter on monthly billing is 12 x $99 = $1,188 for one site, and Growth's two sites at $199 make 12 x $199 = $2,388 (pricing). Rank Math PRO's first year is 12 x €7.99 = €95.88 for every site you own (pricing). The difference is the price of having the changes made for you.
- Keep your fields as the record. If Rank Math is installed, switch on Sync to CMS before deploying, so supported changes are written into the WordPress SEO plugin instead of being served by OTTO alone (Make OTTO changes permanent).
- Copy titles and descriptions before any deployment. Search Atlas documents a known bug in which un-deploying an OTTO recommendation blanks the meta title and description in Rank Math, Yoast SEO or AIOSEO; the fix, WP-373, was waiting for release when read (known issue).
- Judge after Google has looked. Confirm each change in View Page Source, then allow 3 to 14 days after indexing before reading rankings, as the help centre advises (changes not showing).
The two, question by question
| Question | Search Atlas | Rank Math |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | An SEO, content, local and ads platform built around OTTO (homepage) | A WordPress SEO plugin (WordPress.org) |
| Where does it work? | Any site carrying the pixel: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix and more (OTTO pixel) | Self-hosted WordPress; WordPress.com only on that host's Business plan (pricing FAQ) |
| Who puts a change live? | OTTO, automatically by default, or after approval (OTTO pixel) | A person in the editor, or an assistant through MCP tools (MCP tools) |
| What does the entry plan cost? | Starter, $99 a month billed monthly, one site, one seat (pricing) | Free; PRO €7.99 a month billed annually, ex VAT (pricing) |
| How many keywords are tracked? | 2,000 on Starter (pricing) | 500 on PRO (pricing) |
| Is AI search visibility included? | From Growth, across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode (pricing) | Through Rank Math AI, one brand on its Starter plan (AI pricing) |
| Can you try it first? | A 7-day trial (pricing) | The free plugin, and 30 days' money back on PRO (pricing) |
A fix list, or fixes shipped
Rank Math tells you what is wrong as you write and gives you the fields to correct it: titles, descriptions, schema defaults per post type, redirects. It assumes a person will do the correcting. OTTO assumes the opposite. Once its script sits in the site header it audits pages, writes and ships meta tags, adds missing schema, fills entity gaps and can publish new content, all without a developer ticket (OTTO pixel page). For a lean agency with forty pages of known fixes per client, that is the whole case. For a business where every page change passes brand or legal review, it is the risk to manage.
Running both on one WordPress site
Search Atlas expects to meet SEO plugins. OTTO can serve a change without saving it to WordPress, or write it into supported plugin fields when Sync to CMS is on, and the help centre warns that un-deploying may not restore the values that were there before (Make OTTO changes permanent). That is why step 3 above matters. Treat Rank Math's fields as the record, copy them before a deployment, and check them again after any un-deploy.
What a year costs
Search Atlas, billed monthly in USD: Starter $99 for one OTTO site and one seat, Growth $199 for two sites and three seats, Pro $399 for four sites and five seats, Agency from $999 for ten. Each plan carries a pool of Universal Credits, 50,000 a month on Starter. Read on the Search Atlas pricing page on 24 October 2026.
Rank Math, billed annually in euros excluding VAT: PRO €7.99 a month, renewing at €8.99, for sites you own; Business €24.99, renewing at €27.99, for 100 client sites. Read on the Rank Math pricing page on 24 October 2026.
OTTO as the agent, with a person at the gate
Here the agent is the product. OTTO reads the site, proposes changes grouped into playbooks and deploys them; by default it deploys on its own, and approval mode makes each change wait for sign-off (OTTO pixel page). A workable routine: approval mode on from day one, one playbook at a time, and for each deployed change a check of the page source against the optimised version OTTO shows, plus the Rich Results Test wherever schema was added (how OTTO deploys and verifies). On the Rank Math side, an assistant connected through its MCP tools can run a site-wide audit and fix a short list of failed tests, which suits a team that wants an agent but not an autopilot (Rank Math MCP tools).
Search Atlas sells execution. Its pricing FAQ calls Universal Credits the plan's monthly execution budget, and OTTO's default is to deploy without waiting (pricing FAQ). A platform paid to ship changes is set up to ship them. Approval mode is how you put a person back between the suggestion and your live page.
Choose Search Atlas if
- Your job is getting known fixes live across many sites, or on Shopify, Webflow or Wix as well as WordPress.
- You want Google Business Profile posts, review replies and local fixes run from the same place.
- You will keep approval mode on and check deployments in the page source.
Choose Rank Math if
- Your sites run on WordPress and someone on the team applies the changes.
- You want SEO fields stored in your own database, under your own control, from a free plugin.
- The budget is a plugin budget rather than a platform budget.

When the question is bigger than the tool
Sometimes the backlog is not a tooling problem. Nobody owns the website, changes wait weeks for a developer, and buying software that edits pages would paper over who decides what goes live. That is a stack and process question, the kind a one-week Startup Fixer review works through before anyone picks a platform. I sell that review.
FAQ
Can Search Atlas and Rank Math run on the same site?
Yes. With Sync to CMS switched on, OTTO writes supported changes into the WordPress SEO plugin's fields (Make OTTO changes permanent). Record the existing values first, because of the documented un-deploy bug.
Does Search Atlas need WordPress?
No. The OTTO pixel page lists install routes for WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, ClickFunnels, GHL, Google Tag Manager and custom sites. Rank Math works only inside WordPress.
Does pausing OTTO or changing plan undo its changes?
No. Search Atlas says changing your OTTO plan leaves live optimisations active and promises full control after pausing (OTTO pixel page), and that un-deploying may not bring back earlier values (help centre).
