FlexClip vs invideo: Templates or Your Own Footage

The short answer: if your videos start from a template and stock footage, a promo, a launch post, a seasonal offer, FlexClip is the simpler buy: Plus costs $19.99 a month on monthly billing, or $11.99 a month billed annually, and includes 300 AI credits a month on the monthly plan (FlexClip pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Footage you shot, hours of it, is invideo's territory: Starter is $20 a seat a month, timeline edits you make by hand use no credits, and an agent cuts on request (invideo pricing, credits article).

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Before the first export:

  1. Count stock clips per video. For example, a promo built from 4 stock clips plus your own product shots fits FlexClip Plus, which allows 5 stock videos and 5 stock audio tracks per project; a sixth stock clip puts the FlexClip watermark on the export (pricing FAQ). Business, $29.99 a month, lifts the cap.
  2. Footage you already own. FlexClip's cap counts stock, not your uploads. invideo opens an existing Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve project and can hand the cut back to those tools, or to Final Cut Pro (editor introduction), so an edit an agency started is not lost.
  3. Hours per finished video. Time the next three videos from brief to export in your current tool. That is the number either subscription has to move.

These two tools answer different starting points. FlexClip is a template library with an editor and AI helpers around it. invideo is now an agentic editor: describe the edit, and its agents carry it out on a multitrack timeline that you can grab back at any frame.

Three things that decide it

Template first, or footage first

FlexClip's homepage opens on templates sorted by business, store, intro and marketing (FlexClip), and its AI makes video from a prompt, an article or a URL. invideo's opens on uploading footage and describing the edit (invideo). A shop with a product photo and a sale is a FlexClip job. A founder interview that needs to become a 60-second cut is an invideo job.

How AI is billed

FlexClip shows the credit cost of each AI tool before it runs and you confirm it (consumption guide); everything else is a flat plan. invideo charges for agent work and model generation by model and settings, while manual timeline work costs nothing (credits article), and its pricing FAQ reserves the right to change credit costs without notice (invideo pricing). A fixed monthly cost suits FlexClip; a variable workload suits invideo, with a credit limit set per project.

Working with other people

invideo builds collaboration into every plan: live cursors in a shared project, up to 5 seats on Starter and 10 on Plus (pricing). FlexClip lets teammates share branding assets and cloud files (homepage). For one marketer, that difference is irrelevant. For a content team of four, it decides the tool.

The prices, plan against plan

In US dollars, as the FlexClip and invideo pricing pages and FlexClip's credit expiry article stated them on 26 October 2026. FlexClip also sells credits alone, from $14.99 for 300 that last 365 days.

The agent step: captions without opening the editor

invideo's MCP server connects Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to the same timeline at https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp, after you sign in with your invideo account. Give it a talking-head clip and use invideo's own example request: word-by-word captions, bold white on a dark backing, kept clear of the lower third. Each change lands on the timeline under a cursor with the agent's name. The human check: before export, someone plays the whole clip and corrects every product name and number in the captions by hand on the timeline, which costs no credits. FlexClip's AI tools run inside its editor, so there the person and the tool sit at the same screen.

The watermark at the end

FlexClip adds its watermark when a project uses more stock than the plan allows (pricing FAQ), so the upgrade prompt arrives at export, after the video is built. Count stock clips in the storyboard, not on the render.

Try the free plans first

FlexClip's Free plan exports 720p, allows 1 stock video and 1 stock audio per project and up to 12 projects, with a limited trial of the AI features (pricing). invideo's free plan needs no card and gives limited credits that reset weekly (free plan article). Make your next real video in the free plan of the tool your starting point suggests, timed from brief to export, and compare it with the hours you measured before.

Choose FlexClip if

  • Your job is a steady run of short promos built from templates and stock.
  • One or two people make the videos and a fixed monthly price matters.
  • Your source is a product page, a photo or a short script.

Choose invideo if

  • Your job is cutting your own footage: interviews, demos, events.
  • Several people edit together, or an agency hands over Premiere Pro projects.
  • You want an agent, in invideo or in Claude, to do the first cut while you watch.

Both are in the glossary: FlexClip, invideo.

FAQ

Does FlexClip refund a subscription?

Its pricing FAQ offers a 7-day money-back guarantee covering the first payment of each subscription period (FlexClip pricing).

Is editing in invideo free?

Hand edits on the invideo Editor timeline are free of credits; the agent's work and any model generation are not (credits article).

Can FlexClip turn a blog post into a video?

Yes. Paste the URL, edit the AI summary scene by scene, then choose stock or AI images; the AI image mode uses more credits than stock (blog URL guide).
