The short answer: if five reps need email sequences and automations and nobody else needs the CRM, Pipedrive puts both in its Growth plan at $39 per seat a month billed annually, per its pricing page. HubSpot puts sequences in Sales Hub Professional at $90 per seat a month billed annually, plus a required one-time $1,500 onboarding, per the Sales Hub pricing page. Pay HubSpot's premium when marketing and service will work on the same record; otherwise the pipeline tool is the better fit. Both checked on 26 October 2026.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

The question underneath is scope. Pipedrive is built around one object, the deal, and the rep who moves it. HubSpot is built around the customer record that several departments share. Neither is the better CRM in the abstract; one of them matches the people who will log in.

What decides it:

  1. The first-year bill for your team. For example, five reps: Pipedrive Growth is 5 x $468 = $2,340 paid once for the year. HubSpot Sales Hub Professional is 5 x $90 x 12 = $5,400 plus $1,500 onboarding, so $6,900. HubSpot Starter is 5 x $7 x 12 = $420, but it has no sequences. Inputs from the Pipedrive and HubSpot pricing pages.
  2. Where your contacts already live. If marketing runs forms and email in HubSpot today, Sales Hub adds reps to a record that already holds every touch. If the reps work from a spreadsheet, Pipedrive imports and exports data on every plan, per its plan features article, and nobody else's setup has to change.
  3. The Monday number. Count the open deals with no next activity scheduled, today, before either tool goes live. After a quarter, the same count tells you whether the new pipeline is used or merely bought.

Three differences that matter

Who the record is for

Pipedrive's plan list starts with pipelines, deal rotting and activities, and its cheapest tier, Lite, carries all three. The design assumes a salesperson asking "what do I do next on this deal". HubSpot's free and Starter tiers bundle marketing, sales, service, content and data tools on one record, so a support agent sees the deal and a marketer sees the call. If only sales will ever log in, you pay HubSpot for doors nobody opens.

Where automation begins

Pipedrive's automations guide puts automations on Growth and higher: an event or date trigger, conditions, then actions such as creating an activity or sending an email from the synced address. HubSpot Starter allows up to 50 workflows with restricted triggers and actions; Professional lifts that to 300 fully customizable workflows, on the Sales Hub page. So the jump from "logging deals" to "the CRM does the follow-up" costs $25 a seat a month on Pipedrive (Lite to Growth) and $83 on HubSpot (Starter to Professional), at annual rates.

What you pay before day one

HubSpot's Professional and Enterprise prices exclude a required onboarding: $1,500 and $3,500 for Sales Hub, on its pricing page. Pipedrive's pricing FAQ says implementation is free on plans from $400 a year, which five Growth seats clear easily. In year two the onboarding disappears from HubSpot's bill, so compare the second year as well as the first.

Pricing, checked on 26 October 2026

Pipedrive, per seat a month, from its pricing page in USD excluding VAT: Lite $14, Growth $39, Premium $59 and Ultimate $79 on annual billing, or $24, $49, $79 and $99 billed monthly. Add-ons start from $13.33 for Campaigns and $32.50 for LeadBooster.

HubSpot Sales Hub, per seat a month on annual billing, from its pricing page: free for up to 2 users, Starter $7 with $20 shown struck through, Professional $90 with $100 struck through, Enterprise $150. A struck price makes the current one feel like a bargain, and the page does not say how long $7 lasts, so budget the second year at the struck figure until a quote says otherwise.

An agent that reviews stalled deals, with a confirm step

HubSpot's remote MCP server gives Claude or ChatGPT read and write access to deals and activities within the user's own permissions. Ask it on Monday for the open deals with no activity in 14 days, and to draft a next task for each. The human check is built into the tool: before it creates or updates anything, it shows a summary of the proposed changes and waits for explicit confirmation. Read the list, strike the deals that are dead rather than slow, then confirm. One caveat from the same page: with Sensitive Data turned on, calls, emails and notes are blocked from the MCP server, so the agent sees less than the rep does.

Choose Pipedrive if

  • Your job is moving deals from first call to signature, and sales is the only team in the CRM.
  • You want sequences and automations without a Professional tier and an onboarding fee.
  • You prefer to see stuck deals flagged by rotting rather than built into reports.

Choose HubSpot if

  • Your job is a lead journey that starts with a marketing form and ends with a support ticket, all on one record.
  • Your marketing team already works in HubSpot, so sales would join data that exists.
  • You can start on the free tools, and grow into Professional when forecasting and sequences earn their keep.

Start free either way. Put last quarter's deals into HubSpot's free CRM and into a 14-day Pipedrive trial, run the Monday count in both, and see which one your reps keep open. More on each: Pipedrive and HubSpot.

FAQ

Is HubSpot Sales Hub Starter enough to replace Pipedrive?

For logging deals and calls, often yes: Starter includes calling, task queues and up to 15 pipelines on the Sales Hub page. For sequences it is not, since they start at Professional. Pipedrive includes sequences from Growth.

Does Pipedrive have a free plan?

No free plan is listed. The pricing page offers a 14-day trial with no credit card, open to as many colleagues as you invite, read on 26 October 2026.

Is HubSpot's onboarding a yearly fee?

No. HubSpot's pricing pages call it a one-time fee, required on Professional and Enterprise. It is a first-year cost, which is why the gap between the two tools narrows from year two.
