Pipedrive vs Salesforce: Ready to Use or Built to Order

The short answer: a team of ten reps selling through one or two pipelines rarely needs what Salesforce's Sales Cloud editions are built for, starting at Core for $195 per user a month billed annually, per the Salesforce pricing page. Pipedrive's Growth plan, at $39 per seat billed annually on its pricing page, covers pipelines, automations and sequences without an admin. Salesforce earns its price when the process needs custom objects, approvals, territories and other teams on one platform, or when you start small on its Starter Suite at $25 and plan to grow inside it. Both checked on 26 October 2026.

Salesforce changes the size of the decision. Its editions run from a free suite for two users to Max at $550 a user a month, with AI, Slack, Tableau and success plans added as you climb. Pipedrive is one product with four plans and a handful of add-ons. The first is a platform you build on; the second is a tool you start using on day one.
What to settle before any demo:
- Ten reps, three price points. For example: Pipedrive Growth is 10 x $468 = $4,680 a year. Salesforce Pro Suite is 10 x $100 x 12 = $12,000, and Core is 10 x $195 x 12 = $23,400, before Agentforce for Sales, listed from $125 per user a month. Inputs from the Pipedrive and Salesforce pricing pages.
- Name who will build and run it. Salesforce's pricing page points buyers to professional services and certified partners for implementation. Pipedrive's FAQ says implementation is free on plans from $400 a year. If nobody on the team will own configuration, count that work as part of Salesforce's price.
- Check whether forecasting is the problem. Put last quarter's committed forecast next to the revenue that closed. A small gap means advanced forecasting is a nice-to-have; a large one is a reason to look at Pro Suite and above, where quoting and forecasting are included.
The two products, row by row

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pipedrive | Lite, $14 billed annually | None listed | 14 days, no card | Nova meeting intelligence on every plan | MCP on every plan, within token limits | Free on plans from $400 a year |
| Salesforce | Starter Suite, $25, billed monthly or annually | Free Suite, up to two users | 30 days, no card | Agentforce for Sales from $125 per user a month; included in Max | Hosted MCP servers, for customers with Flex Credits | Professional services or certified partners |

What separates them
Configured, or built to order
Salesforce sells its Sales Cloud as "fully customizable" sales force automation, and its Pro Suite adds greater customization and automation plus access to AgentExchange. That is power for a company whose process is its own: approvals, territory rules, partner channels. Pipedrive arrives with deals, stages, activities and rotting alerts defined, and its customization is fields, pipelines and automations. A team that wants to sell next week, not design a data model, starts faster on Pipedrive.
How the editions climb
Salesforce's ladder, on its pricing page: Starter Suite $25, Pro Suite $100, then Core $195, Advanced $395 and Max $550 per user a month billed annually. Core adds Slack Business+, Tableau Next and the Premier Success Plan; Advanced adds enhanced security and expanded data capacity; Max adds the full AI suite with 2.75M Flex Credits per org per year. Pipedrive's ladder tops out at $79 a seat. If you can see your company on Advanced in three years, Salesforce's Starter Suite is a way in; if not, the climb is a cost you never need.
What AI costs
Salesforce prices AI separately: Agentforce for Sales from $125 per user a month, and its Hosted MCP Servers guide says the servers are intended only for customers with Flex Credits and that usage may be billed. Pipedrive includes MCP on every plan, within token limits that depend on the plan, with extra tokens for sale, per its MCP page. For a small team that wants Claude or ChatGPT working on the pipeline, that difference is the whole budget.
Prices, checked on 26 October 2026
Salesforce Sales, per user a month, on its pricing page: Free Suite $0; Starter Suite $25, billed monthly or annually; Pro Suite $100, Core $195, Advanced $395 and Max $550, billed annually. Add-ons include Sales Programs from $100, Revenue Cloud from $200 and Revenue Intelligence from $220 per user a month.
Pipedrive, per seat a month, on its pricing page, in USD excluding VAT: Lite $14, Growth $39, Premium $59, Ultimate $79 billed annually; $24, $49, $79 and $99 billed monthly.
Salesforce's page says it is provided for information only and sends you to a sales representative for detailed pricing. A price list that ends in a call with sales opens a negotiation the vendor runs. For Salesforce, a small team on the Starter Suite is the first step of a climb it has already priced: each edition above it adds more of its own products to the seat, so growing inside the platform also means buying more of its catalogue, Slack and Tableau from Core upward. Bring your own seat count, the edition you would stop at, and the add-ons you have ruled out.
One agent step on Pipedrive, with an audit trail
Pipedrive's MCP page uses this example prompt: "Show me all open deals over $10K that haven't been updated in two weeks." Connect Claude or ChatGPT through OAuth, run it on Friday, and ask the assistant to schedule a follow-up activity on each deal the owner confirms is still live. The human check is twofold: the owner picks which deals get a task, and every action the assistant takes lands in Pipedrive's change log, which a manager reads before Monday. On Salesforce, the equivalent runs through Hosted MCP once Flex Credits are in place.
Choose Pipedrive if
- Your job is closing deals through a defined pipeline, with no admin to build the system.
- You want automations, sequences and an AI connection at a seat price under $80.
- The rest of the company does not need to work inside the CRM.
Choose Salesforce if
- Your job is a revenue process with approvals, territories, partners or several business units.
- You will grow into Core or above and want to start on the Starter Suite.
- You already run other Salesforce clouds and want sales on the same platform.
Start free: Salesforce's Free Suite holds two users with no expiry date as long as someone logs in at least once every 60 days, and its 30-day trial covers the paid suites; Pipedrive gives 14 days without a card. If the real argument is not about software but about who will own the revenue process once it is bought, that is a team gap, and it is the kind an interim CMO fills; I sell that work. Pipedrive's entry: Pipedrive.
FAQ
Does Salesforce have a free CRM?
Yes, the Free Suite, for up to two users, with sales, service and marketing tools and AI for drafting emails and summarising records, per its free CRM page. Teams of three or more need Starter Suite or Pro Suite.
What does Agentforce add to the Salesforce bill?
Agentforce for Sales is listed from $125 per user a month on the pricing page read on 26 October 2026, and comes included in the Max edition. The page notes that AI can be added to Core and above.
Can Salesforce connect to Claude the way Pipedrive does?
Through Salesforce Hosted MCP Servers, which work with Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor using per-user OAuth and respect field-level security and sharing rules. The guide says they are intended for customers with Flex Credits. Pipedrive's MCP server is included on every plan.
