The short answer: if you want AI visibility tracking running this week without a sales call, Writesonic sells it off the page: Starter tracks 50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews for $99 a month, or $79 billed annually (Writesonic pricing). Profound publishes a free 7-day trial on those three engines and then custom Enterprise packages that track up to nine, with no list price for a brand (Profound pricing). Both checked on 26 October 2026. Choose Writesonic if your job is a first, measurable AI visibility programme on a known budget; choose Profound if your job needs many engines, regions and an API, and you are ready to buy through sales.
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
Both vendors run your prompts on AI platforms every day and record whether, where and how your brand appears, with citations and sentiment beside it. Both have moved past the dashboard into agents that do the work: Writesonic through its Action Center and article writer, Profound through what it calls an AI Marketer that drafts the work and pings you for approval (Writesonic homepage, Profound homepage). The differences are in how you buy, what is covered, and who picks the questions.
Before you book a demo:
- Carry a known number into the room. For example, a year of Writesonic Basic, 100 prompts and 300 answers a day, is 12 x $199 = $2,388 on annual billing, or 12 x $249 = $2,988 month to month (Writesonic pricing). That is the figure a Profound Enterprise quote has to beat on coverage.
- Bring your own questions. Profound's trial gives a recommended prompt set based on your industry, and only Enterprise lets you edit, disable or add prompts (Profound pricing FAQ). Writesonic recommends prompts or lets you choose (homepage). Fifty questions from your sales calls are the test both should run.
- Keep the baseline outside either tool. Log, per platform, the share of your prompts whose answer names you, for four weeks. If you switch vendors later, that sheet is the only history you own, since Profound's trial keeps none and allows no exports (Profound pricing).

What separates them
A price list, or a proposal
Writesonic prints every tier but Enterprise: $99, $249 and $499 a month on monthly billing, 20% less on annual (pricing). Profound prints a free trial and a button to book a demo, and its FAQ describes Enterprise as tailored prompt and agent usage with dedicated support (Profound pricing). For a marketing lead who needs sign-off from finance, a printed price is a week faster.
What "nine engines" means on each side
Both top tiers stop at nine, but the lists differ. Writesonic's Enterprise names Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Google AI Mode and Muse Spark beyond the base three (pricing FAQ). Profound lists Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Anthropic Claude and Exa Search (Profound pricing). If one assistant matters most in your market, check it is on the list you are paying for.
How the agent work is metered
Writesonic's agentic workflows come as trial runs on the self-serve plans, 10 on Starter to 100 on Growth, with full access on Enterprise (pricing). Profound meters its Agents in credits: each run consumes credits by complexity, the platform shows an estimate before a run, and going over either bills overage or pauses usage, as agreed with your account team (Profound pricing FAQ).
Prices, checked on 26 October 2026
Writesonic, per month, from its pricing page: Starter $99 monthly or $79 billed annually; Basic $249 or $199; Growth $499 or $399; Enterprise custom. Annual plans are paid 12 months up front, with a 7-day refund.
Profound, from its pricing page: Trial free for 7 days; Enterprise custom. For agencies, Agency Growth sells full client workspaces as an add-on at $399 a month each, with 100 prompts and 400 agent credits a month, and five more trial workspaces for $199 a month.
The agent step: Profound's AI Marketer stages, a person publishes
Profound's homepage shows the documented pattern: its AI Marketer finds the work worth doing, drafts it and pings you for approval. In its own example, the request is to find the pages losing ground in AI answers, rewrite them, and stage everything without publishing; the AI Marketer rewrites nine pages, leaves them all as drafts, and the user asks a named colleague to review the copy first (Profound homepage). Use the same instruction, staged and unpublished, on your own CMS.
The person is the publish button. The reviewer checks each staged page against the product facts and the source the answer engines cited, and nothing goes live on the agent's say-so. Writesonic's route to the same job runs through its Action Center, or through Claude and ChatGPT via its MCP server on any paid plan (MCP docs).
Free first
Both trials are free: Writesonic's runs 7 days without a card, Profound's runs 7 days of daily analysis (Writesonic pricing, Profound pricing). Before either, ask your fifty questions in ChatGPT and Gemini by hand once and note who is named; track your brand in AI answers shows how to keep that as a weekly sheet.
Profound's trial runs a prompt set it recommends for your industry, and you cannot change it (Profound pricing FAQ). The week therefore shows how your brand fares on Profound's questions, and running yours becomes the first thing the Enterprise conversation sells. Compare the trial's prompts with your list before reading anything into its score.
Which one fits
Choose Writesonic if your job is starting AI visibility tracking on your own questions, with content and site fixes in the same tool, at a price you can approve today.
Choose Profound if your job is tracking across many engines, regions and languages with exports and an API, for a team large enough to want unlimited seats and an account team.
The Writesonic entry and how to use Writesonic cover the setup. Profound has no entry here; its site is tryprofound.com.
FAQ
Does Profound sell a self-serve plan?
For agencies only. Agency Growth is bought directly, with client workspaces added at $399 a month; brands choose between the free Trial and Enterprise (Profound pricing, checked on 26 October 2026).
Can I export the data from either tool?
Profound's Trial has no history, exports or API; Enterprise adds all-time history, CSV and JSON exports and an API (Profound pricing). Writesonic exposes its data to AI assistants through MCP on any paid plan and lists Looker Studio integration on Enterprise (pricing).
Does Profound's MCP work on the trial?
No. Profound's documentation lists its MCP server as available on the Enterprise plan (Profound MCP overview).
