AdAlign vs Foreplay: Ideas Before Launch, Checks After It

The short answer: a brief built from the best ads in your category can still send people to a page that drops the offer. Foreplay and AdAlign work at opposite ends of an ad's life, so the question is which end is leaking. If your team already briefs from a shared library of rivals' ads, the open end is after launch, where nobody checks that each live ad still matches its page. AdAlign does that check. Score one ad free on the free audit, or connect Meta and Google Ads from €590 a month on an annual contract for up to €75k of monthly spend (pricing, checked on 27 October 2026). If the team has no library and briefs from memory, Foreplay's Workflow plan fixes the other end: $175 a month on monthly billing, for five users (Foreplay pricing).

Disclosure: I earn a commission if you buy AdAlign through a link on this page, and this page recommends it. Every claim about AdAlign links to AdAlign's own pages.

Rule of thumb:

  1. Annual saves money and removes the exit. Foreplay Workflow is $175 a month billed monthly or $149 billed yearly. A year costs $2,100 or $1,788, a $312 difference. Its pricing FAQ also says annual commitments get no pro-rated refund (Foreplay pricing). Buy a month first if the habit is new.
  2. Your boards already hold the reference pages. Spyder keeps desktop and mobile screenshots of the landing pages competitors run on paid social (Foreplay landing pages article). Before briefing, look at how the rivals you admire repeat their ad's offer on the page.
  3. Score the result, not the brief. For each ad that ships from a Foreplay brief, record its AdAlign score in its first week live. If ads built from good briefs keep landing on pages that score below 5, the brief is fine. The page is the leak.

What separates them

Someone else's ads, or your own live ones

Everything in Foreplay's research half points outward. The Swipe File stores ads you save, Discovery searches a community ad library, and Spyder tracks competitors' advertising around the clock (Foreplay pricing). Its MCP server hands an AI tool the creative, copy, CTA, landing page URL and transcript of any ad in that database (Foreplay MCP). Good research material: what other brands promise, and where they send the click. None of it is your page.

AdAlign points inward. It connects read-only to your own Meta and Google Ads accounts, pulls every live ad with its destination URL, and checks each pair (how it works). Its ad library holds your own synced ads, not other brands'.

A landing page to copy, a landing page to test

Foreplay's landing page screenshots answer "what does a good page look like in my category". AdAlign answers "does my page say what my ad said". That is a narrower question, and a hard one to see by hand, because the failures are small. The ad shows the green sofa and the page leads with the grey one. The ad says 20% off and the page asks for a demo. AdAlign scores four things on every pair. The look of the page weighs heaviest by default, at 40%, then message, the promise above the fold and tone at 20% each. Pages are ranked by the spend sitting on ads that score below 5 (how it works).

Before the ad exists, after it runs

Foreplay's day is before production: inspiration, a brief, a storyboard. Lens then reports results, with Foreplay Scores ranking each ad's clicks and conversions per dollar against your history (Foreplay Scores). AdAlign's day is after launch, every day, because pages change under running ads: a swapped hero, an ended promotion, a test variant. Monitored pages are re-checked daily and marked Stable, Pending or Drifted (how it works).

What you would pay

Checked on 27 October 2026. Foreplay, in USD per month, from its pricing page, which says usage and ad spend are unlimited on every plan. Each extra user is $20 a month, and each extra Lens brand $50:

Foreplay planBilled monthlyBilled yearlyUsers
Basic$59$491
Workflow$175$1495
Agency$459$38910
EnterpriseCustomCustomUnlimited

AdAlign, in euros excluding VAT, from its pricing page: Growth from €590 a month for up to €75k of monthly ad spend, Scale from €1,290 for €75k to €250k, Portfolio from €2,490 for €250k to €750k. All are annual contracts billed monthly. Month to month costs 20% more, and seats are unlimited. Agencies that pay and rebill their clients get 20% off list.

AdAlign sells no plan by card. Its pricing FAQ says every account starts with a call and a €1,500 pilot, so AdAlign is paid for a month of scoring before you sign the plan it is selling. Read the refund term before you agree to it. The €1,500 comes back if the pilot surfaces fewer than 3 issues your team agrees are real (pricing).

A routine that uses both

  1. Brief in Foreplay. Build the brief from saved ads, and write the offer and the destination page into it.
  2. Check the pair before money goes behind it, free. Paste the finished ad's link or screenshot link and its page URL into AdAlign's Ad Roast, or use the free audit for the four-part breakdown. Fix anything the page does not repeat.
  3. Watch it once it runs. On a connected account the new ad is scored as it goes live, and its page joins the daily drift check with alerts below your threshold (agencies page).
  4. The human step. A person reads each low score and decides whether the page or the ad changes. AdAlign's page variants, in beta and only on pages with its tag, publish nothing until someone does (how it works).

Choose AdAlign if your job is

  • Making sure every live Meta and Google ad still lands on a page that says the same thing.
  • Seeing which landing pages carry the most spend on mismatched ads, and fixing those first.

Choose Foreplay if your job is

  • Building a shared library of ads to learn from, and tracking what competitors run.
  • Turning that library into briefs and storyboards for designers and editors.

Covering both ends is a sound setup. More in how to use Foreplay, the Foreplay entry and the AdAlign entry.

Check the ads already running

Run the three live ads with the most spend through AdAlign's free audit this week. The overall score needs no account. If the pages hold up, the briefs are doing their job. If they do not, AdAlign, which pays me a commission, will connect one ad account read-only and walk through your spend at risk on a demo call before you decide on the pilot.

FAQ

Does Foreplay look at landing pages?

Yes, other brands' pages. Spyder stores desktop and mobile screenshots of the pages competitors run on paid social (Foreplay article). Its help centre describes no comparison of your ad with your page.

Can Foreplay Scores tell me whether my page matches my ad?

No. They rank each ad's hooks, watch time, clicks and conversions per dollar against the ads you ran before, with conversions on a fixed 7-day click, 1-day view window (Foreplay Scores). A low convert score says something broke after the click. AdAlign's score says which part of the match broke.

What does each cost for a team of five?

Foreplay Workflow includes five users at $175 a month billed monthly or $149 billed yearly (Foreplay pricing). AdAlign's seats are unlimited, so five people cost the same as one: from €590 a month on Growth, annual contract, excluding VAT (AdAlign pricing). Both checked on 27 October 2026.
