The short answer: if you teach or sell through live sessions and want the webinar, the course and the emails in one account, GetResponse is the fit: Creator includes webinars for up to 100 attendees and costs $69 a month at 1,000 contacts, or $56.58 billed yearly (GetResponse pricing, plans article). If you send newsletters and a few automations and want the roomier free plan, AWeber fits: its free plan covers 500 subscribers and 3,000 emails a month, and Lite is $25 a month at 501 to 1,000 subscribers, or $20.83 billed annually (AWeber pricing, AWeber free plan). All figures checked on 26 October 2026.

Your three numbers:
- The bill at your list size, a year out. For example, at 10,000 contacts on yearly billing, AWeber Plus is $112.50 a month and GetResponse Marketer $93.48, so GetResponse costs $19.02 less a month, or $228.24 a year (AWeber pricing, GetResponse pricing). At 5,000 the two sit within $2.90 of each other: $75 against $77.90.
- The automations and people you already have. Count your live workflows and the people who log in. AWeber Lite allows 3 automations and 3 users; GetResponse Starter allows 1 workflow and 3 users (AWeber pricing, plans article). Two automations rule out GetResponse Starter; four rule out AWeber Lite.
- The measure for the switch. For webinars, the share of registrants who attend; for newsletters, revenue or clicks per subscriber over a quarter, taken from your current tool first.

Where they differ in use
Live sessions in the same account
GetResponse's Creator plan holds the webinar room, the registration list and the reminders: you set the date, duration, lobby message and recording options, pick the list registrants join and switch on reminders (webinar guide). AWeber's pricing page lists email, automation, landing pages, ecommerce and web push, and no webinar tool (AWeber pricing). If you run sessions monthly, that difference outweighs everything else on this page.
A send cap or none
AWeber caps monthly sends at 10 times your subscriber maximum on Lite and 12 times on Plus; GetResponse lists unlimited monthly sends on all three standard plans (AWeber pricing, GetResponse pricing). A weekly newsletter with a few promotions stays well inside AWeber's limit. A daily sender with a long welcome series does not.
What the free plans let you do after day 14
AWeber's free plan is framed as 500 subscribers and 3,000 emails a month (free plan page). GetResponse's free account allows 500 contacts, counting unconfirmed and removed ones, and 2,500 newsletters a month, with premium features such as autoresponders, published workflows and webinars only for the first 14 days (free account article). For a newsletter that never needs a workflow, either works. For anything automated, GetResponse's free plan is a fortnight's trial with a list attached.

US dollars a month. AWeber's page opens on annual billing, so toggle to monthly if that is how you will pay. Its bands are 501 to 1,000, 2,501 to 5,000 and 7,501 to 10,000 subscribers (AWeber pricing); GetResponse prices list sizes of 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 and shows its prices as net of local taxes (GetResponse pricing).
An agent drafts the webinar launch
GetResponse's MCP connects Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients on every plan, and its page says one prompt can create a landing page, a newsletter and a welcome email together, all saved as drafts because the connector never sends or publishes (GetResponse MCP). Ask it for the registration page, the invitation and the welcome email for next month's webinar, in your usual tone. Then a person sets the webinar itself in the Webinars section, puts the real registration link and date into all three drafts, checks the consent fields on the form, and publishes. AWeber's MCP works the same way for email: a draft written in the voice of your top-performing messages lands in AWeber for you to review, schedule and send (AWeber MCP).
Free plans first
Open both free accounts with the same 200 real subscribers. Send two issues from each, and in GetResponse's first 14 days run a test webinar, which the free account limits to 10 people including presenters (free account article). By the end of the fortnight you will know whether the webinar room is worth a paid plan.
AWeber's MCP page carries its own comparison table, "verified September 3, 2026", that marks GetResponse as having no official MCP, while GetResponse's feature page now offers one on every plan (AWeber MCP, GetResponse MCP). A table about rivals on a vendor's own site is drawn to win the sale and dates fast, so check each claim on the rival's pages.

FAQ
Which free plan holds more?
Both stop at 500 contacts. AWeber's covers 3,000 emails a month; GetResponse's covers 2,500 newsletters, counts unconfirmed and removed contacts toward the 500, and keeps premium features for 14 days only (AWeber free plan, GetResponse free account).
Can GetResponse's AI connector send a campaign by itself?
No. Its MCP page says it never sends or publishes; everything it creates is saved as a draft for your approval (GetResponse MCP).
Does AWeber Plus limit users?
No. Plus lists unlimited users, lists, landing pages, automations and segments; Lite allows 3 users (AWeber pricing).
