Clearout vs ZeroBounce: Form Checks or Inbox Monitoring

The short answer: consider Clearout if bad addresses come in through your own forms, or if you also need to find addresses: a one-time pack of 10,000 credits costs $65, and its Form Guard checks email, phone and name fields while people type. Consider ZeroBounce if cleaning should sit next to warm-up, inbox placement tests and DMARC monitoring: its ONE subscription starts at $99 a month for 10,000 credits, against $129 for the same credits bought once (Clearout pricing, ZeroBounce pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Choose Clearout if your job is keeping a CRM clean at the point of entry; choose ZeroBounce if your job is getting campaigns into the inbox and watching that they stay there.

The two overlap on the core check and split on everything around it. Work it out in this order:
- The price of one clean. For example, 100,000 addresses cleaned once cost $400 as a Clearout one-time pack, $649 as a ZeroBounce pay-as-you-go pack, or $449 for one month of ZeroBounce ONE, which can be cancelled. At 10,000 the same three routes cost $65, $129 and $99 (Clearout, ZeroBounce).
- Where your bad addresses enter. If they arrive through forms, Clearout's Form Guard charges 2 credits per field it checks (pricing guide). If they arrive in your email platform, ZeroBounce validates each new contact automatically once real-time validation is switched on for a supported integration, and its integrations docs cover HubSpot, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign and Salesforce.
- The line each vendor draws. Note the bounce rate of your last send. Clearout promises that addresses flagged Safe-to-Send "Yes" and mailed within 24 hours bounce at 3% or less (verifier docs); ZeroBounce guarantees 99.6% accuracy for valid addresses mailed within 72 hours (the ZB Guarantee). Hold your next send to the line of the tool you pick.

Three things that separate them
Two promises, each with conditions
You are not misreading Clearout: its verifier docs describe a 99% deliverability guarantee with a 3% bounce ceiling, while its pricing guide refers to a 97% guarantee, offers refunds within 30 days only for the addresses that bounced, refuses them once more than 25% of a purchase is used, and excludes .edu domains, Yahoo, AOL and Office 365. ZeroBounce's terms sit in one document with one formula: below 99.6% (96% on AOL, Yahoo and Office 365) it refunds 5% of the validation cost per point, if you mail only the valid file within 72 hours, to an opt-in list of at least 1,000, and hand over the SMTP bounce codes (the ZB Guarantee). Both exclude bought lists, so a cold email team mailing purchased data is outside both promises.
Who pays for the second look at a catch-all
A catch-all domain accepts any address, so a plain check cannot confirm the mailbox. Clearout's Deep Verify uses delivery signals to settle catch-alls and unknowns as valid or invalid, at 5 credits when it reaches a verdict and 1 when it cannot (verifier docs). ZeroBounce's A.I. Scoring does not settle them; it ranks them from 0 to 10 for one more credit, and you choose the cutoff (pricing page). On a B2B list heavy with catch-alls, that line item decides the real price.
What sits around the check
Clearout's other tools face inward: a finder, Form Guard, Data Pulse for contacts already in the CRM, and prospecting (pricing page). ZeroBounce's face outward: the ONE plan at 10,000 credits adds 250 warm-up seeds a day, 100 inbox placement tests a month, one DMARC-monitored domain and 10 blacklist monitors (homepage).
Prices side by side
| Credits | Clearout, one-time | ZeroBounce, pay-as-you-go | ZeroBounce ONE, per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5,000 | $40 | $69 | Not offered |
| 10,000 | $65 | $129 | $99 |
| 100,000 | $400 | $649 | $449 |
| 1,000,000 | $1,400 | $3,199 | $2,499 |
USD, checked on 26 October 2026 on the Clearout pricing page and the ZeroBounce pricing page. Clearout's subscriptions run from Starter, 3,000 credits for $23 a month on monthly billing or $16 billed annually, to Pro 10K at $58 or $32; its credits never expire and unused subscription credits roll over.
One step for an agent
Clearout's hosted MCP server adds to Claude as a custom connector with a Clearout sign-in, and its tools call the same endpoints as the dashboard. Give the assistant last month's form sign-ups and ask it to run a bulk verification: it starts the job with email_verify_bulk_start, checks progress with the status tool and fetches the file with the download tool. Then it sorts the results into keep, remove and Risky with a count for each. The marketing lead decides the Risky group, because whether a 5% bounce ceiling is acceptable depends on the sending domain, not on the file.
Choose Clearout if
- Bad data enters through your forms, including phone and name fields.
- You also need to find addresses, at 4 credits each.
- You clean in occasional batches and want credits that never expire.
Choose ZeroBounce if
- You want verification, warm-up and placement tests from one vendor.
- Catch-alls should be ranked rather than resolved.
- You want a written accuracy guarantee with a defined refund.
More on each: the Clearout entry and the ZeroBounce entry. For running a clean with an agent and a person approving removals, see clean an email list before a send.
Test on free credits, then buy small
Both allowances are enough for a real test. Take 100 addresses from your own list, run them through Clearout's 100 free credits (pricing page) and ZeroBounce's 100 free monthly validations (pricing page), and compare which addresses each one marks invalid, catch-all or risky. Where they disagree, those are the addresses your send decides.
Before buying, check one setting on Clearout. Its Auto Credit Replenishment, priced on the pricing page from $40 for 5,000 credits, adds at least 5,000 credits at the pay-as-you-go rate whenever your balance falls below the threshold you set, and the pricing guide lists those payments as non-refundable: the top-up keeps Clearout paid without anyone deciding again, so switch it on for a form that must never stop, not for a quarterly clean.
If the test shows bad addresses arriving from three forms, a webinar tool and an old imported list, all into one CRM, no verifier fixes the intake. That is a stack question, and a one-week review like the Startup Fixer, which I sell, maps where each address comes in before you pay to check it twice.
FAQ
Do Clearout credits expire?
No. Bought credits never expire and unused subscription credits roll over, though credits from a discount deal can carry an expiry date, per the pricing guide.
Does ZeroBounce charge for catch-all results?
Yes, a catch-all result uses the normal validation credit, since only unknown results and duplicates are free; scoring the catch-all afterwards costs one more credit (pricing page).
How long does each keep an uploaded list?
ZeroBounce erases uploaded data 30 days after upload, per its pricing FAQ. Clearout's pricing guide and verifier docs read for this page do not state a retention period; ask before uploading if your data policy needs one.
