Demio vs Zoom: Engagement Signals or Broadcast Scale

The short answer: for a SaaS marketing team running weekly product webinars for 100 to 150 people, where sales asks who paid attention and which campaign brought them, Demio fits: Growth costs $80 per host a month paid yearly for a 150-person room, and it records each attendee's focused time and the UTM source of every registration (Demio pricing, Insights overview, source tracking). For a company already on Zoom Workplace whose webinars can reach thousands, Zoom fits: Webinars for 300 costs $66.67 a month billed annually, rooms go up to 100,000, and every webinar card requires Workplace Pro (Zoom events pricing). Checked on 26 October 2026.

Three questions for sales before either trial:
- Is the price even different? For example, one host on annual terms: Demio Growth with a 150-person room is $80 a month; Zoom Webinars for 300 is $66.67 plus Workplace Pro at $14.16, so $80.83 (Demio pricing, Zoom events pricing, Zoom Workplace pricing). At this size the bill does not decide it; the data does.
- Where does the lead land today? Demio includes HubSpot, Salesforce, Marketo and Pardot as Premium integrations from its Premium plan, and documents a Zapier route below that (Demio pricing, Zapier collection). Zoom's comparison table lists Eloqua, HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot and Salesforce (Zoom events pricing). Start from the CRM sales already opens.
- What makes an attendee worth a call? Write the rule down, say 30 minutes in the room plus one question or click, and after a month count how many flagged attendees sales accepted. That count, not the dashboard, says whether the signal works.
Signal by signal
| Signal sales asks for | Where Demio records it | Where Zoom records it |
|---|---|---|
| Did they turn up? | Attendance summary of attended and missed (Insights overview) | Attendance in the webinar reports, exportable as CSV (pricing FAQ) |
| How long did they stay? | Time in the room and time Focused, meaning the Demio tab was open (Insights overview) | Minutes per join in the participant report; a rejoin is a separate record (API reference) |
| What did they do? | Polls, handouts, featured actions and a chat summary (Insights overview) | Q&A, polls, reactions and survey answers (pricing FAQ) |
| Where did they come from? | UTM parameters and referral URL on each registration (source tracking) | Not on the pricing page |
| Across several webinars? | Per event in Insights | Dashboards, participation breakdowns and custom reports on Webinars Plus and Events (pricing FAQ) |
Where they part ways
Attention or presence
Demio gives every registrant a unique join link and counts them as Focused only while the Demio tab is open, so a viewer reading email in another tab shows up as present but not focused (Insights overview). Zoom's participant report measures time from join to leave, in seconds, per join (Zoom API reference). For a sales team that wants to separate the interested from the idle, the first is the finer signal. Neither knows whether anyone was listening.
Which channel filled the room
Demio captures UTM source, medium, campaign, term, content and the referring URL on every registration page by default, provided the link carries them (source tracking). Zoom's pricing pages describe registration and engagement reports without a source field. If marketing has to show which newsletter or ad brought the 40 people who booked demos, Demio answers it in the export; on Zoom, the answer lives in your own form or CRM.
How big the room gets
Demio's public plans stop at a 3,000-person room, with 4, 6 or 10 people on stage by plan (Demio pricing). Zoom lists up to 100,000 attendees, up to 1,000 video panelists and sessions up to 30 hours (Zoom events pricing). A user conference keynote belongs on Zoom.
Prices side by side
US dollars per month, checked on 26 October 2026. Demio prices per host from its pricing page: Starter, one host and a 50-person room, $45 paid yearly or $63 monthly; Growth for rooms of 150, 500, 1,000 and 3,000 at $80, $196, $303 and $606 paid yearly, or $117, $277, $427 and $855 monthly; Premium, yearly only, at $196, $294, $392 and $785. Zoom prices per room from its events pricing page: Webinars for 300, 500, 1,000 and 3,000 at $66.67, $83.33, $283.33 and $825 billed annually in one payment, or $89, $129, $340 and $990 monthly, plus Workplace Pro at $14.16 or $16.99 a user.
Read Demio's Boost terms before you switch it on. Boost lets registrants promote your webinar to their own networks to bring in more sign-ups, and it starts as a 14-day free trial, after which a paid Boost term begins automatically on the same cycle as your Demio account, annual or monthly (Demio pricing FAQ). On an annual account, the test of a sharing feature becomes a year of it unless someone cancels inside the fortnight.
One agent step: a ranked list for sales the morning after
Zoom's report endpoint GET /report/webinars/{webinarId}/participants returns each attendee's join time, leave time and duration in seconds, for webinars in the last 6 months; it needs a Pro or higher plan with the webinar add-on and the report:read:admin scope (Zoom API reference). An n8n workflow can call it the morning after, add the questions from GET /report/webinars/{webinarId}/qa, and pass both to an AI agent that sums each person's minutes across rejoins, applies your rule from the list above and writes one line per qualifying attendee into a sheet. The human check: the sales lead reads the sheet before anyone is called, removes colleagues and existing customers, and nothing goes out by email from it; the follow-up email itself is covered in the webinar follow-up use case.
On Demio, the AI sits in the replay: Demio AI answers attendee chat in on-demand sessions on Premium and Unlimited (Demio pricing).
Which job each one wins
Choose Demio if your job is weekly webinars for a few hundred people, where sales wants to know who focused and clicked, and marketing wants each registration tied to the campaign that produced it.
Choose Zoom if your job is webinars that can grow into the thousands, run by a company already standardised on Zoom Workplace, with per-person minutes pulled through its API when sales asks.
Before paying, run the rule from the list above on free ground: Demio's 14-day trial allows 20 attendees and one-hour sessions, enough for an internal dry run with the sales team in the room (Demio pricing).
Tracking sources in Demio step by step is in how to find which channels fill your webinar, with background in the Demio entry.
FAQ
When does Demio count an attendee as focused?
While the Demio tab is open in their browser; switching to another tab stops the count (Insights overview).
How far back can Zoom's API report on webinar participants?
Six months, per the participant report endpoint in the Zoom API reference.
Is the HubSpot integration on Demio's Growth plan?
Not as a native integration: HubSpot, Salesforce, Marketo and Pardot are included from Premium. The 14-day trial runs on Growth features and does include HubSpot access (Demio pricing).
