The short answer: if your company already runs on Zoom Workplace and the webinar is a briefing for customers or prospects, with questions and a recording, add Zoom Webinars: 500 attendees cost $129 a month on monthly billing or $83.33 a month billed annually as one upfront charge, and every webinar card states that a Zoom Workplace Pro licence is required, $16.99 a month or $14.16 billed annually (Zoom webinar pricing, Zoom Workplace pricing). If the webinar is there to sell, with an offer on screen and revenue tracked per session, WebinarJam Basic covers 500 attendees for $99 a month or $79 billed annually, and includes its automated replay product, EverWebinar (WebinarJam pricing). All checked on 26 October 2026.

Before anyone books a demo:

  1. Add the licence underneath. For example, one host and 500 attendees on monthly billing: Zoom Webinars $129 plus Workplace Pro $16.99 = $145.99 a month, against $99 for WebinarJam Basic. On annual terms it is $83.33 + $14.16 = $97.49 against $79 (Zoom webinar pricing, WebinarJam pricing). If the host already holds a Workplace Pro seat, only the $129 or $83.33 is new money.
  2. List what the company already pays Zoom for. Meetings, recordings in the Zoom cloud (10 GB per Pro licence), single sign-on on Business, and the IT team that supports it all (Zoom Workplace pricing). If IT has already approved Zoom, a webinar inside that contract skips a new vendor review; a new tool starts one.
  3. Name the result before the first session. Zoom's webinar card promises performance reports that connect to marketing tools; WebinarJam tracks sales from the live room and the replay room once its codes are installed (sales tracking). Pipeline from attendees in 90 days, or revenue in 48 hours: pick one.

What separates them

Who signs for it

Where Zoom is already the company's meeting tool, IT holds the contract and the webinar licence is an add-on to a seat someone already has. WebinarJam is bought by whoever runs the sales webinar, on a card, from Genesis Digital in Las Vegas (WebinarJam pricing). That difference shows up in procurement, in security questionnaires and in who answers when a session fails at 19:00. Inside a company with a standard toolset, Zoom is the path of least resistance. A founder selling a programme answers to nobody.

Informing an audience, or closing it

Zoom's standard webinar is a broadcast: clear audio and video, chat, reactions, polls and Q&A, custom backgrounds and AI-generated chapters on the recording (Zoom webinar pricing). WebinarJam puts the sale in the room: an offer panel with a button to your checkout, a live "has just purchased" notice, a stock count and a timer (offers guide). A product launch to existing customers wants the first. A course launch wants the second.

Length and size

Zoom's comparison table allows events of up to 30 hours and audiences up to 100,000, depending on the plan size you buy (Zoom webinar pricing). WebinarJam caps a session at 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours by plan and suggests scheduling a second session 30 minutes after the first when you need more (WebinarJam pricing FAQ). A half-day virtual event belongs on Zoom.

Prices, all in

Checked on 26 October 2026. Zoom, from its webinar pricing: Webinars at 500 attendees $83.33 a month billed annually or $129 on a monthly subscription; Webinars Plus, which adds pre-recorded sessions run like live ones and a private backstage, $290.83 billed annually; Events $415.83. Zoom Workplace, from its plan page: Basic free with 40-minute meetings and limited AI notes and My Notes; Pro $14.16 a user a month billed annually or $16.99 monthly, with My Notes taking notes in meetings; Business $18.33 or $21.99; the ZoomMate AI teammate as a $20 monthly add-on. WebinarJam, from its pricing page: Starter $49 or $39 billed annually for 100 attendees; Basic $99 or $79 for 500; Professional $299 or $229 for 2,000; Enterprise $499 or $379 for 5,000.

Questions after the session, answered with an agent's help

Zoom's API has an endpoint that lists the Q&A of a past webinar, GET /past_webinars/{webinarId}/qa, which needs a webinar licence and the webinar:read:past_qa scope; a sister endpoint lists absentees (Zoom Meetings API). An n8n HTTP Request node can call it the morning after, pass the unanswered questions to an AI agent with your product notes, and write a draft reply per question into a document. The host corrects each draft and sends it from their own mailbox. Nothing goes out unread.

WebinarJam's API, which needs an approved key, returns registrants and attendees rather than questions (API overview), so on WebinarJam the same job starts from the session's chat log instead. The full morning-after workflow, sorted by attendance, is the webinar follow-up use case.

The number on Zoom's card

Read the footnote under Zoom's webinar cards before comparing. Annual plans are billed as a single upfront charge, and the monthly rate is the annual total divided by 12, shown for comparison only (Zoom webinar pricing). The $83.33 on the card is a $999.96 payment on day one, and each card adds that Zoom Workplace Pro is required, so the webinar licence sells the meeting seat with it. Rehearse first for nothing: a free Zoom Workplace Basic meeting with three colleagues playing attendees tests your slides and audio within its 40 minutes, and WebinarJam's 30-day money-back guarantee covers a real first session.

Which one, by job

Choose Zoom if your job is customer briefings, product launches and long or large events inside a company that already standardised on Zoom, where the questions matter more than the checkout.

Choose WebinarJam if your job is a sales webinar with an offer, a countdown and revenue per session, and later the same recording sold again through EverWebinar, at a lower price for 500 attendees.

And if the company pays for Zoom for meetings, WebinarJam for the sales webinar and a third tool for the email list, while nobody can say which one produced last quarter's customers, the stack is the question rather than the webinar tool. The Startup Fixer, a week of fixed-price work I sell, is set up for that kind of question. More on the sales side in the WebinarJam entry.

FAQ

Does Zoom Webinars need a Zoom Workplace licence?

Yes. Each card on the webinar pricing page states "Zoom Workplace Pro Required".

Can Zoom run a pre-recorded webinar as if it were live?

Yes, on Webinars Plus, which the pricing page describes as pre-recording content and running it like it's live. Standard Webinars does not list it.

How long can a WebinarJam session run?

One, two, three or four hours, from Starter to Enterprise. For longer events, the pricing FAQ suggests a second session starting 30 minutes after the first.
