The short answer: if one marketer turns product photos and offers into branded promos in the browser, FlexClip is the steadier buy: Plus costs US$19.99 a month on monthly billing, or US$143.88 for a year, and brings 1080p export, a Brand Kit and 100GB of video hosting space (FlexClip pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). If the person who posts edits trend formats on a phone and wants AI generation in the same app, CapCut fits better; its yearly tab listed Pro at USD 179.99 a year with 1,200 AI credits a month, and the page marks every price as a reference that sign-in can change (CapCut pricing). Choose FlexClip if your job is on-brand promos built from templates. Choose CapCut if your job is quick social edits wherever the phone happens to be.

Run these numbers first:
- The year, side by side. For example, FlexClip Plus billed yearly against CapCut Pro billed yearly is 179.99 - 143.88 = USD 36.11 more for CapCut, before tax, using the FlexClip and CapCut pricing pages. On monthly billing both entry plans read 19.99, so the plan price will not settle it.
- The stock in your last three promos. FlexClip counts stock per project, five clips and five tracks on Plus, and a project that goes over exports with the FlexClip watermark (pricing FAQ). Promos built on your own product shots rarely touch the cap; promos built on stock footage do.
- Where the last ten posts were finished. CapCut ships as CapCut Desktop, Online, Pad and Mobile (CapCut); FlexClip is an online editor. Mostly a phone is half an answer already.
- The figure you will check in a month. Hours from brief to posted video, written down for last month before either subscription starts.
FlexClip sells a template library with an editor wrapped around it: 6,000+ templates, 4M+ stock videos and photos, and AI that drafts from a prompt, an article or a URL (FlexClip). CapCut sells an editing app on four kinds of device, with captions, voices and Seedance generation charged in credits. One starts from a finished design you adapt; the other from your clips.

Three places they part
Adapting a design, or cutting your own clips
A FlexClip promo usually begins as one of its business, store or marketing templates with your logo and product shots dropped in (FlexClip). A CapCut edit begins with clips on a timeline and a trend template over them. A sale announcement that must look like the brand favours the template. A reaction to this morning's news favours the app in your pocket.
What a credit buys
FlexClip shows the estimated credit cost of each AI tool before it runs and asks you to confirm (consumption guide), so the allowance is spent one decision at a time. CapCut's Pro card prices video generation by the second, with Seedance 2.5 from $0.12 a second in the first month and up to 240 seconds at 720p from the cheaper Mini model (CapCut pricing). A team that generates footage needs CapCut's larger pool; one that mostly edits will not empty either.
Keeping three people on brand
FlexClip's Team plan is US$69.99 a month or US$479.88 a year for 3 seats (Team plan article). CapCut's yearly Teams figure was USD 107.5 per seat, so for example three seats come to 3 x 107.5 = USD 322.50 a year, with a brand kit and 1,200 credits a seat (CapCut pricing). The caveat: CapCut's own Teams card promises a different price after sign-in, up to 80% lower, so treat 107.5 as a ceiling rather than a quote.
Prices, plan for plan
Checked on 26 October 2026 in US dollars. FlexClip: Plus 19.99 a month or 143.88 a year; Business, with 4K and unlimited stock, 29.99 a month or 239.88 a year (FlexClip pricing). CapCut, as reference prices: Pro 19.99 a month or 179.99 a year; Ultra, with 8,645 credits a month, 79 a month or 900 a year (CapCut pricing). The yearly Pro card wore a 60% OFF badge without naming the price it was measured against.
Five versions of one promo, through Codex
CapCut x Codex is an official plugin for the ChatGPT desktop app on PC, and its page names a use for teams: several cuts and aspect ratios of the same material, with captions or language versions per channel, while CapCut stays the place to inspect each one (CapCut x Codex). Install it with the prompt on that page, upload the approved 30-second promo, and ask for a 9:16 cut, a 1:1 cut, and caption tracks in Dutch and French.
The human check sits in the editor, not the chat: someone opens each version in CapCut, reads every caption against the offer sheet (price, end date, product name), and has a native speaker read each language track before export. On FlexClip the same versions are made by hand; its help centre describes no agent route.
The renewal behind the sale
CapCut's Black Friday page offers up to 60% off on CapCut Desktop from 20 to 30 October, and its small print says the discount covers one annual term, after which the plan renews at the regular price unless someone cancels (sale page). A first-year discount is set up so that year two arrives without anyone deciding on it. If you take the offer, put the renewal date in the team calendar on the day you pay.
A free round before either card
FlexClip Free exports at 720p, allows one stock video and one stock track per project and keeps up to 12 projects (FlexClip pricing). CapCut Free covers basic editing and its free templates, and a new account receives 200 credits (CapCut pricing). Rebuild last month's strongest promo in FlexClip from a template and your own shots, then have the person who posts cut the same promo into a 15-second vertical in CapCut on their phone. Set the minutes each took against the figure from step 4.
Which one, for which job
- Choose FlexClip if your job is a steady run of branded promos, intros and offer videos made in the browser by one or two people who want a flat monthly bill.
- Choose CapCut if your job is short social video cut on whatever device is at hand, with AI generation and trend templates in the same app.
FlexClip's plans are in its glossary entry. CapCut has no entry; capcut.com is its own reference. For FlexClip against Canva's editor, see FlexClip vs Canva; for CapCut against a shared team timeline, invideo vs CapCut.
FAQ
Can I try FlexClip Plus before paying?
Not as a trial. Payment is taken when you subscribe, and the Free plan is the test (trial article); the pricing FAQ adds a 7-day money-back guarantee on the first payment.
What happens to FlexClip projects if the plan lapses?
The account drops to Free, which stores 12 projects; the rest are locked, not deleted, and uploaded files go 3 months after expiry (expiry article).
Does the Codex plugin run in ChatGPT in a browser?
No. CapCut builds it for the ChatGPT desktop app on PC, with availability depending on app version, account and region (CapCut x Codex).
