The short answer: if nobody on your team needs to appear on screen, Fliki is the lighter meter: a 4-minute explainer from a blog post, narrated by a green-band voice over stock footage, costs 0.5 + 4 x 0.5 = 2.5 of the 180 credits in Standard, which bills $28 per user each month (Fliki pricing, credit guide). The same four minutes as a HeyGen Avatar IV video use 4 x 31 = 124 of the 600 credits in Creator, $29 a month (HeyGen pricing, credits article), both read on 26 October 2026. HeyGen earns its price when the face is the message: a founder update, a sales intro, a digital twin of your own person.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Before you pick:

  1. Price the presenter as a share of the plan. For example, a stock avatar on screen for all 4 minutes in Fliki adds 240 x 0.25 = 60 credits, a third of Standard (credit guide). HeyGen's Avatar III on a video look costs 4 credits a minute, so 16 credits, under 3% of Creator (credits article). Narration is cheap in Fliki; a face is cheap in HeyGen.
  2. Start from what is already published. Fliki opens a blog post by URL for 0.5 credits and a PowerPoint for 1, and the setup before you press Submit is free (credit guide). HeyGen turns audio, a podcast or a voiceover into an avatar video (HeyGen homepage), which suits a team that records more than it writes.
  3. Pick the number now. Watch-through on the channel where the video will run, set against the last video you published there. Without that baseline, a cheaper video and a better one look the same.

The real fork is a person. Fliki builds a narrated video around words, with visuals chosen to match them. HeyGen builds a video around a presenter who speaks the words, and everything else on screen supports that presenter.

What separates them in practice

Each meter runs on something different

Fliki's credits go mostly on voice. Stock and uploaded media cost nothing, replaying costs nothing, and changing one scene's voiceover text re-voices that scene alone (credit guide). HeyGen's credits go on generated presenter minutes, and the rate depends on the avatar model you pick (credits article). A script-heavy channel with many short videos fits Fliki's meter; a presenter-heavy one fits HeyGen's.

Lip sync is optional in one and the point of the other

Fliki does not lip-sync an avatar automatically. Its guide tells you to finalise the script first and generate lip sync last, because editing afterwards means paying for the avatar video again (credit guide). In HeyGen the synced presenter is the product, down to translated speech in the speaker's own voice.

How far each language reaches

Fliki narrates in 80+ languages and translates scripts from Standard (pricing). HeyGen re-voices existing footage in 175+ languages and dialects with lips matched, for 6 credits per translated minute on the Speed engine (pricing, credits article). For a recorded founder speaking to five markets, HeyGen does the job Fliki was not built for.

What each costs, read on 26 October 2026

Fliki bills per user: Free at $0, Standard at $28 a month with 180 credits, Premium at $88 with 600, all on monthly billing; on yearly billing the page listed $16.80 and $52.80 a month, next to a Halloween code for 40% off annual plans (Fliki pricing). HeyGen bills per plan: Free at $0, Creator at $29 a month, $24 if paid yearly, with 600 credits, Pro from $49 or $41 billed yearly with 1,000 (HeyGen pricing). Fliki's monthly quota cannot be carried over (Fliki guide); HeyGen's monthly credits roll over for one more cycle.

The agent step: a series that plans itself

Fliki's Series takes a topic, a style and a posting schedule, then plans the next videos and writes their scripts (Fliki homepage); Standard includes one series and Premium three (pricing). The human check: a named person reads every script against the post or source it came from before it is published, and fixes wording scene by scene. That is cheap by design, since an edited scene re-voices on its own.

HeyGen offers the agent route through its MCP server, where an assistant such as Claude can start a Video Agent session in chat mode and keep refining the draft.

Who the defaults serve

Fliki charges the narration the moment a generated video auto-plays (credit guide), so a line you meant to fix after one listen has already been paid for once. Read the script aloud before Submit; that part is free.

A free test that is enough to decide

Fliki's free tier, no card needed, holds 3 credits a month, which covers a 2-minute green-voice video at 0.5 + 2 x 0.5 = 1.5 credits (pricing, credit guide). HeyGen's free tier includes one custom video avatar and three watermarked clips a month, each capped at one minute (HeyGen pricing). Make the same 60-second script both ways, post them a week apart to the same audience, and compare watch-through. If the faceless version holds people as well, the cheaper tool has earned the subscription.

Choose Fliki if

  • Your job is turning articles, scripts and decks into narrated video without filming anyone.
  • You publish often in several languages and the voice matters more than a face.
  • You want a posting schedule planned for you, with a person checking each script.

Choose HeyGen if

  • Your job needs a recognisable presenter: a founder, a salesperson, a trainer.
  • You have recorded video to translate with the lips matched.
  • Sales or customer success will reuse the same avatar for personal messages.

The Fliki entry covers its plans; the HeyGen entry covers credits and consent.

FAQ

Can Fliki put a presenter on screen?

Yes. Stock avatars cost 0.25 credits a second, with a flat 2 credits for any avatar clip of 8 seconds or less, and lip sync is a separate step you trigger (credit guide). Standard lists limited stock avatars; Premium lists all AI avatars (pricing).

Can HeyGen make a video without a face?

It can, but it is not where its plans put the value. Creator includes HeyGen Voice with up to 10 hours of text to speech, and the Video Agent builds motion graphics and B-roll around a script (HeyGen pricing, homepage).

Which one handles a team better?

HeyGen's individual plans have one user seat, and teams move to Business (pricing). Fliki lists team collaboration on Premium, where added members inherit the admin's plan and share its credits (Fliki guide).
