The short answer: if your automations run about 10,000 action steps a month, Pabbly Connect's Standard plan carries them for $19 a month on monthly billing, where Zapier's Professional plan asks $193.50 for the same 10,000 tasks (Pabbly Connect, Zapier pricing, both checked on 26 October 2026). Zapier earns its price in two places: an app that only its 9,000+ directory carries, and a person approving an AI draft mid-flow, allowed from its $29.99 Professional plan while Pabbly ticks it only on its $79 Unlimited plan. Choose Pabbly Connect if your job is volume on a fixed budget; choose Zapier if your job is reach or review.

Pabbly Connect is the budget road between apps. It connects 2,000+ of them, charges nothing for triggers or for its own filters, routers and formatters, and sells plans by the month, the year, two or three years, or once for life (Pabbly Connect). Zapier is the wide road: a directory several times larger, a Team plan for 25 builders, and Zapier MCP, which lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor run its actions from a chat at 2 tasks a call (Zapier MCP, pricing FAQ).
Count before you move a single Zap:
- Your busiest month, in one unit. Both bill successful action steps and skip triggers and polling, so one count serves both meters. For example, a lead flow with 4 actions that runs 2,500 times a month is 4 x 2,500 = 10,000 units: inside Pabbly Standard at $19, and exactly Zapier Professional's 10,000-task tier at $193.50, both on monthly billing (Pabbly Connect, Zapier pricing).
- The apps your flows touch today. Look each one up in both directories; Pabbly adds an API module, Zapier webhooks and private integrations. One missing connector settles it before price does.
- Where you will read the meter. Zapier emails at 80% and 100% of the task limit and keeps every attempted run in Zap history (task usage); Pabbly's task history shows each step of a run (Human in Loop guide).
The facts on both pricing pages
| Fact | Pabbly Connect | Zapier |
|---|---|---|
| What uses the allowance | Action steps; triggers, internal steps and polling checks are free (pricing FAQ) | Successful actions; triggers, polling and built-in tools are free (task usage) |
| Free plan | 100 tasks, two-step workflows, no card | 100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps (pricing) |
| First paid plan, billed monthly | Standard: $19 for 10,000 tasks | Professional: from $29.99 for 750 tasks |
| Most a self-serve plan offers | Unlimited: $79, no task count | Team: from $103.50, 25 users, shared Zaps and connections |
| Pay once | Lifetime plans from $349 for 3,000 tasks a month | Not offered on the pricing page |
| A person approves mid-flow | Human in Loop on Unlimited and the $799 and $1,298 lifetime plans | Human in the Loop on Free, Professional, Team and Enterprise (help) |
The same unit, priced far apart
A task means nearly the same thing on both. Zapier never charges for Formatter, Paths, Filters, Delay, Looping, Sub-Zaps, Digests, Storage, Tables or Forms (task usage rates); Pabbly never charges for filters, routers, formatters, schedules, iterators or email parsers (pricing FAQ). One wrinkle: Zapier's new rates page prices a trigger step at 1 task, while its pricing FAQ and help centre say triggers never use tasks. Where they differ is price. For example, at 10,000 tasks Zapier Professional costs $193.50 / 10,000 = $0.01935 each on monthly billing, while Pabbly Standard costs $19 / 10,000 = $0.0019, under a tenth of that.
AI is where the units part. An AI by Zapier step uses 1, 3 or 5 tasks by model tier, plus the same again per tool call (model tiers). Pabbly's AI Assistant, code module, Human in Loop and MCP servers are greyed out on the Free and Standard cards and ticked on Unlimited (Pabbly Connect). Cheap volume on Pabbly stops at the first step that needs judgement.
Checking Pabbly's Zapier figures
You are not misreading the two pages. Pabbly's Standard card says Zapier charges $64 a month for 2,000 tasks, and its comparison widget puts Zapier at $254 a month for 10,000 (Pabbly Connect). Zapier's own slider, set to 2,000 tasks on monthly billing, shows Professional at $73.50, or $49 a month billed yearly; at 10,000 tasks it shows Professional at $193.50 and Team at $253.50 (Zapier pricing). The widget quotes Zapier's Team tier, and $64 matches neither current price. The gap in Pabbly's favour is real; read its size from Zapier's slider.
One AI step, with a person before it posts
The job: draft a reply to every new Google review and publish it only after the location manager approves. On Zapier, Google Business Profile's New Review trigger starts the Zap, an AI by Zapier step on the Standard tier drafts the reply for 1 task, a Human in the Loop Request Approval step pauses the run until a reviewer approves or edits the text, and Create Reply publishes it (Google Business Profile on Zapier, Human in the Loop). Four steps need a paid plan, since Free stops at two. On Pabbly, the same shape uses its OpenAI action for the draft and a Human in Loop step that emails the reviewer the mapped fields; Pabbly's guide names public posts as a case for that check (Human in Loop guide). For example, 80 reviews a month use at most 80 x 3 = 240 Zapier tasks, counting the approval as an action, inside Professional's 750 at $29.99; on Pabbly the approval step alone moves you from $19 to $79.
What each plan costs
Per month in USD, checked on 26 October 2026 on Pabbly's pricing section and Zapier's pricing page, with Zapier's slider set to each volume:
| Monthly volume | Pabbly, billed monthly | Pabbly, yearly | Zapier Professional, monthly | Zapier Professional, yearly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 tasks | Free | Free | Free | Free |
| 750 tasks | Standard, $19 | $16 | $29.99 | $19.99 |
| 2,000 tasks | Standard, $19 | $16 | $73.50 | $49 |
| 10,000 tasks | Standard, $19 | $16 | $193.50 | $129 |
| No task count | Unlimited, $79 | $69 | Not offered | Not offered |
Zapier's overflow rule deserves a minute before you connect anything: accounts opened after January 2024 have pay-per-task billing switched on by default, so a Zap that passes the plan's limit keeps running at a higher per-task rate, up to 3 times the plan's task limit, and on Professional and Team only the account owner can turn it off (pay-per-task, pricing FAQ). Nothing stops, which protects your flows and bills Zapier's dearest tasks in your busiest month. Decide on the first day whether a busy month should pause or pay.
Free on both, before any card
Pabbly's Free plan needs no card, and paid plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee (Pabbly Connect). A new Zapier account gets a 14-day Professional trial with no card, and Free stays at 100 tasks a month after it (pricing FAQ). Rebuild your two busiest flows on both, one plain and one with an AI step, and compare a week of task history. For long flows, Pabbly Connect vs n8n prices the per-run alternative.
Choose Pabbly Connect if your job is
- Thousands of plain action steps a month between mainstream apps, cheaply.
- Paying once, or for three years, for flows you expect to keep unchanged.
- One flat Unlimited plan for an agency running many clients' automations.
Choose Zapier if your job is
- Connecting an app that only Zapier's directory carries.
- A person approving AI drafts before they publish, on the Professional plan.
- Letting an AI assistant run actions across your apps through Zapier MCP.
FAQ
Does a Pabbly polling check use tasks?
No. Each check for new data counts as an operation, 288 a day for a five-minute check, and Pabbly does not charge for operations (pricing FAQ).
Can Zapier's Free plan run an AI step?
Only as a preview. On Free you can add AI by Zapier to an unpublished Zap on the Standard tier; publishing it, or choosing Advanced or Premium, needs an upgrade (model tiers).
Does Pabbly let a team share one account?
Team members are crossed out on the Free and Standard cards and ticked on Unlimited, and a tooltip says the feature is not on monthly plans (Pabbly Connect). Price a shared account at Unlimited, yearly or longer.
