Piktochart vs Visme: The Download Format Decides It

The short answer: if you suspect the download format decides this pair, it does. Piktochart Pro, $10 per member a month billed annually, downloads PNG only, while Visme's Starter, $12.25 a month per person billed yearly, already downloads PDF (Piktochart pricing, Visme pricing, both checked on 26 October 2026). Choose Piktochart if your job is image infographics for social posts, intranets and newsletters at the lowest price per head. Choose Visme if your job is branded reports and decks that leave as PDF or PowerPoint, carry live charts and get tracked once published.

Settle the file before the plan:
- Two people, two formats, worked out. For example, two people who need PDF handouts pay 2 x $17 x 12 = $408 a year on Piktochart Business, the first Piktochart plan with PDF, against 2 x $147 = $294 on Visme Starter. If the file must be PowerPoint, it is $408 on Piktochart Business against 2 x $297 = $594 on Visme Business. Figures from the Piktochart and Visme pricing pages, billed yearly.
- The report you already have. Pikto AI turns a text-based PDF, DOCX or TXT file under 10MB into a visual (upload article). Visme's AI Designer takes a document or a link as its source, with file uploads reserved for paid plans (AI Designer guide).
- Whether a view count matters. Visme Business reports views, unique visits and average completion on published projects, with a CSV export, and its guide warns that views are visits, not people (analytics guide). If nobody will read that report, do not pay for the tier that produces it.
Which plan first gives you what
| You need | Piktochart: first plan with it | Visme: first plan with it |

| PDF downloads | Business, $17 | Starter, $12.25 |
| PowerPoint downloads | Business, $17 | Business, $24.75 |
| HTML5, video or GIF | Not listed | Business, $24.75 |

| AI credits a month, entry to top paid tier | 60, 500, 1,000 | 10, 200, 500 |
| Single sign-on | Enterprise, from 101 members | Enterprise, from 10 users |
Per person a month on annual billing, checked on 26 October 2026 on the Piktochart pricing page and the Visme pricing page. Visme served two versions of its pricing page that day. One shows a free Basic plan with JPG, PNG and PDF downloads and a 50-slide limit per project; the other shows a Free plan of unlimited drafts with no public sharing and no downloads, plus the AI credit counts used above. Check which one you are shown before relying on the free plan.
Where the two differ in practice
A picture to download, or content to publish
Piktochart is at its strongest when the output is an image: a one-screen summary of a survey, a timeline for the intranet, a chart for LinkedIn. Visme assumes the project will often live online, with forms, animation, analytics and privacy controls on Business (pricing page), and it covers presentations and documents in the same editor.
Charts that keep up with the data
Visme charts read from Google Sheets, Excel, Google Analytics, Smartsheet or SurveyMonkey, and a Re-sync Data button pulls fresh values (chart import guide). Piktochart's plan grid lists CSV import and dynamic data from Google Sheets (pricing page). For a monthly report rebuilt from the same sheet, Visme's wider list of sources saves the copy-paste.
From a 12-page report to a visual, by AI
Both vendors document an AI step that reads your document, and each handles your wording differently.
In Piktochart, open Pikto AI, choose the Document format, upload the report and switch on Preserve Content, which keeps the original text, charts and tables instead of summarising them (Preserve Content article). Charts and tables come through as pictures of the originals: visible, but not editable in the editor. A summary from an uploaded document costs 3 AI credits (credits article).
In Visme, open the AI Designer, upload the report and choose Verbatim, which follows your text closely, rather than Enhance or Rewrite (AI Designer guide). It drafts up to 10 pages, which the guide calls a structured first draft.
The human check is the same for both and takes the longest. Someone who knows the report reads every figure on the visual against the source page. On Piktochart, a wrong number inside a preserved chart cannot be edited, so fix it in the source and convert again; on Visme, rebuild the chart from the data rather than trusting the drafted one.
Where Piktochart's conversion stops
Piktochart's Preserve Content keeps the first five pages of a document free to export and points to the Business plan for the rest (Preserve Content article). The upgrade prompt arrives at the moment a long report looks almost finished, which is when it is hardest to walk away from. Count your report's pages before you start converting it.
The free test
Both have a free entry. Piktochart Free gives 60 AI credits and two PNG downloads that never renew (free plan article); Visme's free plan gives 10 AI credits a month on the version of the page that lists them (pricing page). Convert the same five-page section of your last report in both, then put the two results in front of the person who will read them.
- Choose Piktochart if your job is image infographics and summaries that go out as PNG, made by a small team on a tight budget per head.
- Choose Visme if your job is branded reports, decks and infographics that leave as PDF or PowerPoint, update from live data and are tracked once published.
Each tool's full plans are in the Piktochart and Visme entries; how to use Piktochart turns a quarterly report into an infographic step by step.
FAQ
Which is cheaper if I need PDFs?
Visme. PDF arrives on Starter at $12.25 a month billed yearly, against Piktochart Business at $17 (Visme pricing, Piktochart pricing).
Do unused AI credits carry over?
Not on either plan's monthly allowance. Piktochart's plan credits reset each cycle, while packs bought separately never expire (credits article); Visme's AI credits renew each month (AI Designer guide).
Can a whole team share Piktochart's AI credits?
Yes. Credits are given per member and pooled across the workspace, so three Pro seats share 3 x 500 = 1,500 a month, per the credits article.
