The short answer: with one brand on three networks you are scheduling, not reporting yet, and that costs $12 a month on Publer Professional or nothing on Metricool's free plan, as long as LinkedIn and X are not among the three (checked on 26 October 2026 in Publer's plan calculator and on Metricool's pricing page). Past that, the split is the job. Publer is the volume tool: bulk uploads, recycling with variations, RSS, watermarks, and networks such as Telegram, Mastodon and WordPress. Metricool is the reporting tool: several brands in one bill, with their Meta, Google and TikTok ad accounts read beside the posts.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Metricool changes the unit you pay for. Publer charges for each connected social account and each extra member, so the bill moves one account at a time. Metricool charges for brands, each holding one profile per network plus up to three ad accounts, so a brand on six networks costs the same as a brand on two.

Rule of thumb:

  1. Price two brands on four networks both ways. For example, 2 x 4 = 8 accounts cost $32 a month on Publer Professional and $56 on Business, where analytics live, with monthly billing in the plan calculator. The same two brands fit Metricool Starter at $25, with analytics and ad accounts included (Metricool pricing).
  2. List the places you already publish. Telegram channels, WordPress, Mastodon and Facebook groups appear on Publer's list and not in Metricool's brand guide. Twitch and the three ad platforms are on Metricool's side. Count your X accounts too: Publer includes X on paid plans, Metricool charges $10 a month for each.
  3. Time last month's report before switching. Note the hours it took and where each figure came from. After a month in either tool, time it again; that difference, not the feature list, is what you bought.

What tips it

Several accounts on one network

Metricool allows one connection per network in each brand, so a business with three Instagram accounts needs three brands. Publer simply counts three accounts. For a franchise with a page per location, that difference decides the bill: each Google Business location is also its own Metricool brand, per its pricing FAQ.

A daily cap against a monthly review

Publer's ceilings are per profile, per day: on Business, 36 Facebook posts, 25 Instagram posts and Reels, and 100 X posts, and it says it can waive its own limits on paid plans for specific cases (plan calculator). Metricool's paid plans have no monthly cap, but a brand above 600 posts in a month gets a manual check, and nothing publishes while it runs. A brand that publishes in bursts is better served by Publer's daily rules; a steady calendar never meets either.

What the report can see

Publer's Business plan adds analytics, posting-time suggestions, hashtag analysis, competitor analysis and automated PDF reports. None of it reads an ad account. Metricool's report takes the paid side from the same brand, which for anyone presenting results to a manager is most of the reason to choose it.

Prices from both pages

Checked on 26 October 2026, USD before VAT. Publer's plan calculator gives these totals:

  • Professional, monthly or billed yearly: 3 accounts $12 or $9.60; 5 accounts $20 or $16; 8 accounts plus one extra member $34 or $27.20 (calculator).
  • Business, monthly or billed yearly: 3 accounts $21 or $16.80; 5 accounts $35 or $28; 8 accounts plus one extra member $59 or $47.20 (calculator).
  • The tenth account: Publer's FAQ makes every tenth account free, but the calculator applies it to yearly billing only: 10 accounts on Professional show $40 monthly, the same as ten paid, and $28.80 yearly, the same as nine (Publer plans).

Metricool, from its pricing page: Starter $25 a month or $20 billed annually for 5 brands, $45 or $36 for 10; Advanced $67 or $53 for 15, $107 or $85 for 25, $210 or $159 for 50. X is $10 a month per connected account on any paid plan.

Drafting through Publer's MCP

Publer's MCP is on Business and Enterprise. Its setup guide offers OAuth, or an API key whose scopes set what an assistant may touch: Workspaces and Accounts are required, and Posts, Media and Analytics are chosen. Give the key Posts and Media only, then ask the assistant to turn a list of next month's product updates into draft posts for Instagram and Facebook. The check is the guide's own example prompt: show me all my draft posts so I can review what is pending. A person reads every draft in Publer, fixes it, and schedules it; nothing goes out from the chat.

Metricool's MCP runs on the free plan as well and can read the analytics of connected ad accounts, per its limits page, which makes it the cheaper way to let an assistant near your numbers.

Two free fortnights first

Run both free plans on the same brand for two weeks: Publer on the three accounts you post to most, Metricool on the brand with its ad accounts connected. Keep a plain sheet of what you published and what it did. You will need that sheet, because Publer keeps a free account's published posts for 24 hours, so the record a free user needs to judge what worked is gone by the next morning, and a lasting history is one of the things its paid plans sell (Publer plans). At the end of the fortnight, the sheet shows whether your pain was getting posts out or explaining them.

Choose Publer if

  • Your job is publishing a lot, fast: CSV months, recycled evergreen posts, RSS feeds and watermarked images.
  • You post to Telegram, WordPress, Mastodon or Facebook groups, or run several accounts on one network.
  • X is in every campaign and you want it inside the plan price.

Choose Metricool if

  • Your job is a monthly report per brand with paid and organic results together.
  • You manage several brands that each use many networks, so a per-brand fee beats a per-account one.
  • You want an assistant reading your analytics without upgrading.

How to Use Publer loads a month of posts from one CSV file.

FAQ

Does Publer report on ad accounts?

Its plans page lists post analytics, posting-time suggestions, hashtag analysis and competitor analysis on Business, and names no ad account connection.

Can one Metricool brand hold two Instagram accounts?

No. The brand guide allows one connection per network in each brand, so a second Instagram account needs a second brand.

Which Publer plan includes the MCP server?

Business and Enterprise, per its MCP guide. Metricool's MCP works on every plan, the free one included.
