The short answer: if each profile gets a post a day or less, Later Starter covers a brand's eight networks for $25 a month on monthly billing; past 30 posts a profile, Later moves you to Growth at $50, while Publer charges per account with no monthly allowance, $32 a month for eight accounts on Professional (checked on 26 October 2026 on Later's pricing page and in Publer's plan calculator). Choose Publer when the job is publishing a lot to many places, X, Telegram and WordPress included, from spreadsheets and recycled posts. Choose Later when the job is a visual Instagram and TikTok plan that sells through a bio page.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Later changes the ceiling from a daily one to a monthly one. Publer lets each profile post a set number of times per day, 25 Instagram posts on Business for example, and does not count the month. Later counts every scheduled item per profile for the month, drafts included, and stops Starter at 30 and Growth at 180. The other change is the grid: Later is built around how the Instagram feed will look, and around the link under it.

Count before you compare:

  1. Price your setup with two people. For example, eight accounts plus one extra member cost $34 a month on Publer Professional and $59 on Business, where analytics and AI Assist live, with monthly billing in the calculator. Later Growth is $50 a month for 2 social sets of 8 profiles and 2 users, with analytics kept for a year (Later pricing).
  2. Open the spreadsheet your calendar lives in. Publer imports up to 500 posts from one CSV file, per its bulk guide, and recycles evergreen posts with spintax variations on Business. If your month already starts as rows in a sheet, that is most of the case for Publer.
  3. Note how many posts went out on their planned day last month. Missed slots, posts held for a late sign-off, posts nobody approved. That share is what the new tool has to raise.

Where the two disagree

When nobody has approved the post

Publer's approval levels article sets, per member and per social account, whether an Editor's posts need the Admin or Owner, and whether a Client must approve. A post that is still unapproved at its scheduled time is marked failed. Later's collaboration guide says the opposite in plain words: approval status does not block publishing. If a client's yes is a legal requirement, Publer enforces it and Later relies on your team keeping posts as drafts.

Volume and the shape of the month

Publer's caps per profile per day on Business include 36 Facebook posts, 25 Instagram posts and Reels, and 250 Threads posts, and it can waive its own limits on paid plans for specific cases (plans page). Later's allowance is monthly, so a launch week that front-loads 40 posts on one profile uses up Starter before the month is half gone. For a brand that publishes in bursts, Publer is the calmer fit.

What the link in the bio does

Later's Link in Bio, on every plan, links Instagram posts and Reels to products, collects email into Mailchimp or a CSV, and reports interactions for 3 months on Free up to 2 years on Scale. Publer's Linkie page updates itself with your Publer posts, and its own Instagram page tracks clicks on Business. If sales start in the bio, Later is the stronger page.

The prices

Read on 26 October 2026, USD before tax.

  • Publer, from its calculator, monthly or billed yearly: 3 accounts $12 or $9.60 on Professional and $21 or $16.80 on Business; 8 accounts $32 or $25.60 on Professional and $56 or $44.80 on Business. The free plan holds 3 accounts other than X, 10 scheduled posts each and 25 drafts.
  • Later, from its pricing page, monthly or billed yearly: Starter $25 or $18.75, Growth $50 or $37.50, Scale $110 or $82.50. Extra sets are $15 and extra users $5 a month from Growth. The free plan holds 1 set and 12 posts per profile, per the plan reference.

An AI step with a brand voice

Publer's AI Assist, on Business or with your own OpenAI key, can keep a brand voice: you name the brand, write instructions on tone, upload up to 5 guideline or sample files, and let it read previous posts from the accounts you select, per its brand voice guide. In the composer, the assistant drafts in that voice and you click Insert; the generated text appears highlighted in the post, and a person edits it before scheduling. The highlight is the check: nothing machine-written goes out unread. Later's Caption Writer does a narrower version, English only, spending 1 credit per set of generated captions and appending the one you pick to your caption.

Two free weeks on the same three profiles

Both free plans take three of your profiles. Run the same fortnight of posts through each: Publer's free plan for its bulk upload and queue, Later's for the visual planner and bio page. Then compare the planned-day share from the list above.

Publer gives its Professional plan a 7-day trial and its Business plan a 14-day one, so the tier carrying analytics, AI Assist and the MCP gets twice as long to become the plan you keep, at $7 an account a month instead of $4 in the calculator. Decide which tier you need before the trial clock picks for you.

Choose Publer if

  • Your job is high-volume publishing across many networks, from CSV files, queues and recycled posts.
  • X, Telegram, WordPress, Mastodon or Facebook groups are on the list.
  • A client's approval must stop a post, not just colour it.

Choose Later if

  • Your job is a visual Instagram and TikTok plan that sells through the bio page.
  • You post steadily rather than in bursts, and Snapchat is part of it.
  • Creator campaigns and an inbox for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok belong in the same vendor.

How to Use Publer loads a month from one CSV, and Later vs Hootsuite covers Later against a full suite.

FAQ

What happens to an unapproved post in Publer?

If it has not been approved before its scheduled date, it is marked failed and moves to Posts > Failed, per the approval levels article.

Can Later publish to X or Telegram?

No. Its pricing page lists Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat.

Does Publer have a link in bio page?

Yes. Linkie is integrated on every plan, and paid plans add an unbranded Instagram page whose clicks are tracked on Business.
