Reclaim.ai vs Motion: Protect the Hours or Plan Every Task

The short answer: you are not misreading it: Reclaim's homepage still says its AI Tasks schedule your tasks to the calendar by priority, while its help article for accounts opened since May 2026 says Reclaim surfaces tasks inside time you have already protected instead of creating an event for each one (homepage, tasks article). That difference settles it for most marketing leads. If meetings eat the week and your tasks already live in Asana, ClickUp or Linear, Reclaim.ai defends the hours, free on Lite for one person and $10 a seat a month on Starter billed yearly (Reclaim pricing). If you want every task booked into its owner's calendar and re-planned when meetings move, that is Motion's core, from $19 a seat billed annually, with no free plan (Motion pricing). Both checked on 26 October 2026.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Work it out on paper:

  1. Seven seats for a year. For example, a team of 7 on Reclaim Starter pays 7 x $10 x 12 = $840 billed yearly, and on Motion Pro AI 7 x $19 x 12 = $1,596 billed annually, a gap of $756 (Reclaim, Motion). Reclaim's Business plan, at $15, still comes to 7 x $15 x 12 = $1,260.
  2. The task tool you already pay for. Reclaim reads tasks from Asana, Todoist, Google Tasks, ClickUp and Linear and leaves project planning there (tasks article). Motion brings its own projects, templates and docs. Decide whether the new tool joins your stack or replaces part of it.
  3. The re-planning you do by hand. Count, for one week, the times you moved planned work because something else landed on it. Reclaim should cut the ones caused by meetings. Motion should cut the ones caused by tasks that never had a slot.

What separates them

Time first, or tasks first

Reclaim starts from the calendar. Its agents protect deep work, hold flexible time for routines, add prep and recovery buffers around meetings and manage recurring meetings (getting started), and a Focus Time agent stays at Low priority while it hunts for space so other agents can schedule first (priorities). Motion starts from the task list: a duration, a deadline and a priority on each task decide where it goes (reference). One guards the container. The other fills it.

Joining your stack, or replacing part of it

Reclaim's tasks article says it is designed to work alongside your project tools, not replace them. Motion's plans list AI Projects and Tasks, AI Docs, Wiki and Notes, and from Business AI, capacity planning and Gantt charts (pricing). A team happy in ClickUp that only lacks hours adds Reclaim. A team without a project tool, or tired of the one it has, is Motion's buyer.

Prices, checked on 26 October 2026

Reclaim, per seat a month: Lite free for one user, Starter $10 billed yearly or $12 monthly for up to 10 seats, Business $15 or $18 for up to 100, Enterprise $22 on yearly plans only (Reclaim pricing). Motion, Teams tab, per seat a month: Pro AI $19 billed annually or $29 monthly, Business AI $29 or $49; one person on the Individuals tab pays $29 or $49 on Pro AI (Motion pricing). Reclaim offers 20% off for six months to anyone switching from Motion, free accounts included (switching discount).

One agent step: Monday's review, staged

Open Reclaim Chat on Monday and ask which tasks are at risk this week, then ask it to give the launch brief two hours before Thursday's review. Reclaim weighs due dates, priority, your calendar and your hours to pick the tasks (tasks article), and any calendar change it proposes appears in Preview Mode first, where you accept or decline each suggestion (chat). The human check: read the staged week against the meetings you know are about to move, then accept only what still holds. The same request from Claude through the MCP server at mcp.reclaim.ai lands in Preview Mode too (MCP).

On 26 October, Reclaim's pricing page opened with a banner offering 30% off Starter and Business, today only, for new users, while its trial runs 30 days (pricing, trial article). An offer that expires tonight asks for a purchase 29 days before the trial would have shown you anything. Let it lapse; the switching discount above has no deadline on its page.

The free test

Run Reclaim Lite for two weeks with a Focus Time goal and one Habit for the routine that keeps slipping. Lite plans one week ahead and costs nothing (pricing). If the protected hours appear and the work gets done in them, stop there. If the hours appear and tasks still miss their dates because nobody decided what goes into each block, that gap is what Motion's scheduler fills, and its trial is the next step, on monthly billing.

Choose Reclaim.ai if your job is

  • Keeping two-hour blocks for campaign work in a week other people book.
  • Leaving tasks in Asana, ClickUp or Linear and being told which one fits the time you have.
  • Starting free for one person, then $10 a seat for a team of up to 10, billed yearly (pricing).

Choose Motion if your job is

  • Turning a project plan into calendar time for every person on it, automatically.
  • Running repeatable launches from templates, each task with one owner and an estimate.
  • Replacing a separate task tool with projects, docs and scheduling in one place.

FAQ

Does Reclaim still book each task as its own event?

Not on Reclaim 2.0, which every account created since May 2026 runs. Tasks are recommended within your protected time; accounts on Reclaim 1.0 are pointed to a switching guide (tasks article).

Does Motion protect focus time?

It respects your working hours and adds breaks between tasks so you are not working back to back (reference). Its pricing page lists no focus-time agent; time is protected by filling it with scheduled tasks.

Do both work with Outlook?

Yes. Reclaim's plan table lists Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar support (pricing), and Motion syncs Outlook 365 calendars alongside Google and iCloud (integrations).
