The short answer: if your WordPress site exists to grow an email list, Thrive Themes is built for that job: Thrive Leads alone adds lightbox, slide-in, ribbon and in-line opt-in forms with A/B tests for $99 in the first year and $199 after, and the whole suite of eight plugins and a theme builder costs $299, then $599 a year, for up to 5 sites (Thrive Leads, Thrive pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). If the site exists to look exactly as designed, Elementor's Advanced Solo plan gives one site Pro widgets, a theme builder, forms and popups for $84 a year (Elementor pricing file). Choose Thrive if your job is capturing, segmenting and testing leads. Choose Elementor if your job is design range across every template on the site.

Thrive sells conversion tools that happen to include a builder: Architect for pages, Leads for opt-in forms, Quiz Builder, Optimize for split tests, Ultimatum for countdowns, Ovation for testimonials, Apprentice for courses, Comments and Theme Builder, on self-hosted WordPress only (pricing page and FAQ). Elementor sells a builder that happens to collect leads: 85 Pro widgets, dynamic content from custom fields, a form builder and a popup builder on Advanced Solo (pricing file). Both build pages. They disagree about what a page is for.
Sums worth doing first:
- Year two, not the checkout. For example, two years of the Thrive suite cost $299 + $599 = $898, since renewals are at full price, against 2 x $84 = $168 for Elementor Advanced Solo at today's rate, which Elementor's file does not fix for renewals (Thrive pricing, Elementor pricing file). Paid quarterly, the suite is 4 x $149 = $596 a year.
- The conversion jobs you have today. List them: opt-in forms, a quiz, a split test, a countdown. If the list has one line, buy one tool: Thrive sells Leads and Quiz Builder on their own for existing sites, each $99 for one site in the first year (Leads page, Quiz Builder).
- Where the tests will run. Thrive describes Optimize as the A/B testing add-on to Thrive Architect, sold together at $199 for the first year and $399 after (Optimize page). Elementor's plans in its pricing file list no A/B testing.
- Your opt-in rate per form. Sign-ups per 1,000 visitors on each form last month, noted before anything changes.

Three differences that decide it
Testing comes in the box, or not at all
Thrive Leads carries its own A/B testing engine for forms, and Optimize splits traffic between page variations, with a setting that sends most visitors to the version already winning, say 70%, while riskier ideas get the remaining 30% (Leads, Optimize). Elementor's pricing file lists builders, templates and site services, and no testing on any plan (pricing file). An Elementor site that wants tests buys them elsewhere.
Range against intent
Elementor sells control: global styles, display conditions, dynamic content and custom code across every template (homepage, pricing file). Thrive's Architect page sells conversion-focused templates and talks about the visitor's next action more than the layout. A brand team that argues over spacing feels the difference in a week.
What a lapsed licence leaves
Thrive's FAQ says that without renewal your site, opt-in forms, landing pages and quizzes stay intact and working, while support, updates and premium templates need an active licence (pricing FAQ). Elementor's renewal article says Pro features stop immediately at expiry until you renew (renewal article). For a lead form that has to keep collecting, Thrive's terms are the safer ground.
What each licence costs
| Licence | First payment | After that | Sites |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thrive Suite, yearly | $299 | $599 a year | 5 |
| Thrive Suite, quarterly | $149 a quarter | Not stated | 5 |
| Thrive Leads alone | $99 | $199 a year | 1 |
| Thrive Architect + Optimize | $199 | $399 a year | 1 |
| Elementor Advanced Solo | $84 | Not stated | 1 |
| Elementor Advanced | $108 | Not stated | 3 |
| Elementor One | $180 | $228 a year | 1 |

An agent maps what is built in Architect
Before changing builders, measure how much of the site depends on Thrive's. Architect exposes each page's layout fields through the standard WordPress REST API, including tcb_editor_enabled, set to 1 when Architect is on for a post, and tve_landing_page, the landing page template key (Thrive REST guide).
- Create an Application Password for an editor account, named after this job; drafts and private pages need an authenticated caller.
- Ask the agent to read every page and post through /wp/v2/pages and /wp/v2/posts with _fields=id,slug,status,title,meta, and to return a table: slug, status, whether Architect is on, and the landing page template if any. Reads only; Thrive's write endpoint stays unused.
- The human check: someone who knows the site opens ten rows in the WordPress admin and confirms the table matches what the editor shows. Thrive's own guide says to work against staging until you trust the round trip, so run it there first.
- Revoke the password. The table is your migration estimate, or the case for staying.
On the Elementor side, Angie's Super Admin Mode reads the site's real data and confirms a plan before it acts (Angie).
Try the single plugin before the suite
Elementor's core Editor is free, and Thrive refunds within 30 days, so the cheapest real test is one plugin on the site you have: Thrive Leads on an existing form page for a month, opt-in rate measured against the number you wrote down (Leads, Thrive pricing).
Read Thrive's own wording on Optimize before you plan a test. The product page calls it the A/B testing add-on to Thrive Architect and sells the two as one bundle, so a page earns a Thrive split test by being rebuilt in Thrive's builder first, and the test brings the builder licence with it (Optimize page). If your pages live in Elementor, price that rebuild before the bundle.
Choose Thrive Themes if your job is
- Growing an email list with several form types and testing them against each other.
- Segmenting new subscribers by quiz answers before they reach the email tool.
- Forms and landing pages that keep working if the licence is not renewed.
Choose Elementor if your job is
- Pixel-level control of every template, header and footer on the site.
- One site with forms, popups and a theme builder for $84 a year on Advanced Solo (pricing file).
- Cookie consent, accessibility fixes and image optimisation bundled on One.

FAQ
Can Thrive Leads run on a site built with Elementor?
Thrive sells Leads as a standalone plugin for existing websites that want opt-in forms, placed by triggers or in widget areas (Leads page). It does not need Thrive's builder; its split tests run inside the plugin.
Does Elementor have A/B testing?
Not on the plans in its pricing file, which list builders, templates, forms, popups and One's site services (pricing file). Testing an Elementor page takes a separate tool.
How many sites does the Thrive suite cover?
Up to 5 on the standard yearly or quarterly licence; the pricing page links a separate agency licence for more (Thrive pricing).
