Zoho CRM vs Salesforce: Suite Pricing or Platform Depth

The short answer: a 20-seat sales team that wants a CRM without a contract pays Zoho CRM $9,600 a year on Enterprise, its top published edition, at $40 per user a month billed annually; the same 20 seats on Salesforce Pro Suite cost $24,000 a year at $100 per user, billed annually with a contract required (checked on 26 October 2026 on the Zoho CRM pricing page and the Salesforce sales pricing page). Choose Salesforce when the CRM is the first floor of a platform that service, commerce and analytics teams will build on, and someone on the payroll will own that build. Choose Zoho CRM when the rest of the business runs, or could run, on Zoho's other apps.

Three things settle it:
- The yearly bill at your headcount. For example, 20 users cost 20 x $40 x 12 = $9,600 on Zoho Enterprise and 20 x $23 x 12 = $5,520 on Zoho Professional, both billed annually, against 20 x $100 x 12 = $24,000 on Salesforce Pro Suite and 20 x $25 x 12 = $6,000 on Starter Suite, from the Zoho and Salesforce pricing pages checked on 26 October 2026. Starter Suite is the one Salesforce rung near Zoho's prices, and the one without a contract.
- What you already pay other vendors for. List the tools around the CRM: mail, help desk, invoicing, email campaigns. If three of them would move to Zoho, price Zoho One instead, at $37 per employee a month billed annually with every employee licensed, per the Zoho One pricing page checked on 26 October 2026. If none would move, the suite is a reason you do not have.
- One rule to build in each trial. Pick the first automation the team will switch on, such as an approval on large discounts, and build it in both trials. The edition that runs it without a workaround is the one to price.
Salesforce changes the question. Zoho sells a CRM inside a family of business apps, with no commitment; Salesforce sells a ladder of editions where each rung adds platform. They suit companies at different distances from the systems they will run in three years.

Where the two part ways
The price of changing your mind
Zoho's pricing FAQ binds you to no contract, so the monthly premium is the whole cost of flexibility: Professional is $35 a seat monthly against $23 annually, on the pricing page checked on 26 October 2026. Salesforce's Free Suite page marks Pro Suite "Contract required", so the forecasting and quoting a team may want later live on the contract rung.
Where the records sit
Zoho assigns the data centre from the country chosen at sign-up and lists Amsterdam as its primary European site, Dublin as the secondary, per its data centre page. Salesforce sells the Hyperforce Operating Zone for the EU and Switzerland; its FAQ says you cannot choose the EU country and that select Einstein features are not part of the Operating Zone products. If EU residency is a procurement condition, ask which AI features your quote keeps.
How far each one stretches
Zoho stretches sideways, into other apps on the same login. Salesforce stretches upwards: Core, Advanced and Max add Slack tiers, Tableau Next, security tooling and, on Max, Agentforce for Sales, otherwise sold from $125 per user a month, per the sales pricing page checked on 26 October 2026. If the business will never need those floors, the fair comparison is Zoho against Starter Suite and Pro Suite, not against Max.
What each costs, checked on 26 October 2026
Zoho CRM, per user a month on its pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026, local taxes extra: Free costs $0 for up to 3 users; Standard is $14 billed annually or $20 monthly; Professional $23 or $35; Enterprise $40 or $50.
Salesforce, per user a month on its sales pricing and Free Suite pages, checked on 26 October 2026: the Free Suite is $0 and comes with two licences, Starter Suite is $25 on monthly or yearly billing, Pro Suite is $100, billed yearly under a contract, and the three Sales Cloud editions run $195, $395 and $550 on yearly billing. The EU edition of the page lists the same figures in euros, from €25 to €550.
One AI step, with a person in the loop
Zoho publishes four MCP servers for Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf, each scoped to the signed-in user's permissions, per its MCP overview. Install only the read-only Data Insights server and ask it for open deals closing this month with no activity in two weeks; a sales manager reads the list and decides each follow-up by hand. The Data Operations server can delete in bulk, and one of Zoho's own example prompts deletes every deal stuck in a stage since March, so leave it off until someone has checked a week of answers. Each MCP call draws on your API credits. On the Salesforce side, Hosted MCP Servers need Flex Credits and may be billed by use, so on Starter Suite the agent route starts with a purchase.
Choose Zoho CRM if your job is
- Running sales beside support, invoicing and campaigns from one vendor and one login.
- Finding out, with up to three people on the free edition, whether a sales team will use a CRM at all.
- Keeping the right to leave at a month's notice while the process settles.
Choose Salesforce if your job is
- Laying the base of a revenue platform that service, commerce and analytics will join.
- Forecasting and quoting from Pro Suite upwards, with an administrator or partner to configure them.
- Working with certified partners and AgentExchange apps, which the pricing page opens up from Pro Suite.
Free first: what to do before either invoice
Both trials are free and ask for no card. Build the one rule from the list above in each, import a single month of real deals, and export them again before the trial ends, so you know the way out works. Zoho runs a free migration service for teams leaving another CRM, and its request page opens with a customer quote about Salesforce; the migration costs you nothing because the renewals that follow it pay Zoho back.
If the trials show that the real question is how many vendors the business should run on, the Startup Fixer, a one-week stack review I sell, answers that before either contract is signed.
FAQ
Is Zoho CRM cheaper than Salesforce on every rung?
No. Salesforce Starter Suite at $25 a user costs more than Zoho Professional billed annually at $23, and less than Professional billed monthly at $35, per the Salesforce and Zoho pricing pages checked on 26 October 2026. From Pro Suite upwards, Salesforce's prices sit above anything Zoho publishes for its CRM.
Can a Dutch company keep its CRM data in the EU with either?
Yes. Zoho's European data centres, Amsterdam first, serve accounts whose sign-up country is the Netherlands, per its data centre page. Salesforce offers the Hyperforce Operating Zone for the EU and Switzerland, with some Einstein features left out.
