The short answer: if your reps spend the day on the phone, Close builds calling, SMS and email into the CRM from its $9 Solo plan, with a power dialer and workflows on Growth at $99 per user a month billed annually, on its pricing page. If deals move through meetings and proposals and calls are one activity among several, Pipedrive's Growth plan gives you automations and sequences at $39 per seat a month billed annually, on its pricing page. Both checked on 26 October 2026.

Close changes the centre of the screen. Its pricing page sells calling, email, SMS and workflows as the product and passes phone usage through at cost. Pipedrive puts the deal board at the centre and treats a call as an activity to log, which its plans do automatically on every tier.
Do the sums first:
- Seats on the plans with automation. For example, six reps: Close Growth is 6 x $99 x 12 = $7,128 a year, and Pipedrive Growth is 6 x $39 x 12 = $2,808, both on annual billing per the Close and Pipedrive pricing pages. Close's Solo and Essentials plans exclude workflows, so a team that wants automation starts at Growth.
- Add the phone bill to Close's side. For example, six reps at 600 outbound minutes a month each, at the roughly $0.02 a minute Close quotes for most outbound calls: 6 x 600 x $0.02 = $72 a month, plus numbers from about $1 each. If you already pay for a separate dialer, move that licence to Pipedrive's side of the sheet.
- Pick the call metric now. Count connected calls per rep per day for the last two weeks, from whatever you use today. That is the number a dialer is supposed to raise, and the only fair test of Close's premium.
The two side by side

| Power dialer | Growth | Not listed | Close pricing |
| Predictive dialer, live call coaching | Scale | Not listed | Same page |
| Automated workflows | Growth and Scale | Growth and up | Pipedrive automations guide |
| Users | Solo is one user, up to 10,000 leads | Seat-based on every plan | Pipedrive pricing |
| AI included | 500 to 2,000 AI credits per user a month | AI report creation on every plan | Pipedrive plan features |

How they differ in use
Where the calls happen
Close's Growth plan adds a power dialer, custom activities and bulk email; Scale adds a predictive dialer, unlimited call recording retention and live coaching, per its pricing page. That is the toolkit of an inside sales floor. Pipedrive's plan features article lists automatic call logging and web-to-mobile calls on every plan, which suits a rep who calls from a phone and wants the record kept. Volume decides it: the dialer earns its price only when calling is most of the day.
When automation arrives
On Close, workflows are not included on Solo or Essentials, which cost $9 and $35 per user a month billed annually. On Pipedrive, automations arrive on Growth at $39, built from a trigger, conditions and actions such as creating an activity or sending an email from the synced address. A small team that needs automated follow-up and not a dialer pays less on Pipedrive.
What the AI is for
Close sells Chloe, an AI sales agent that, per its pricing page, calls leads, holds qualifying conversations, books meetings and updates the CRM, using AI credits and telephony. Each plan includes 500, 1,000, 1,500 or 2,000 credits per user a month. Pipedrive's built-in AI writes reports from a prompt on every plan, and its MCP server lets ChatGPT or Claude work on deals within each user's permissions. One sells an agent that works the phone; the other connects the assistant you already use.
Pricing, checked on 26 October 2026
Close, per user a month, on its pricing page: Solo $9, Essentials $35, Growth $99 and Scale $139 on annual billing; $19, $49, $109 and $149 on monthly billing. Calling and SMS usage is passed through at cost.
Pipedrive, per seat a month, on its pricing page, in USD excluding VAT: Lite $14, Growth $39, Premium $59 and Ultimate $79 on annual billing; $24, $49, $79 and $99 on monthly billing.
One agent step with a scope you choose
Close's MCP article gives its server at mcp.close.com/mcp three scopes: mcp.read is read-only, mcp.write_safe can read and write, mcp.write_destructive can also delete. Connect Claude with mcp.read and ask for every lead in the "Qualified" status with no call logged in seven days, grouped by owner. The sales manager reads the list in the Monday stand-up and assigns the calls. Only when the team trusts the output does anyone grant write_safe, so the assistant can create the follow-up tasks itself; the delete scope stays off for assistants.
An agent that bills by the job
Close's pricing page says access to Chloe is free on every plan and that you pay only for the work she does, in AI credits and telephony. Free access to an agent that bills by the job is how a usage meter starts; the vendor earns as she works. Set a monthly credit and telephony limit before the first campaign, and compare the meetings booked with what the credits cost.
Choose Close if
- Your job is high-volume outbound calling, and reps need a power or predictive dialer inside the CRM.
- You want calls, texts and emails on one timeline without a separate phone system.
- You want to test an AI agent that makes qualifying calls, paid by usage.
Choose Pipedrive if
- Your job is moving deals through meetings, demos and proposals, with calls as one activity.
- You need automated follow-up at the lowest seat price that includes it.
- Your team already likes a visual deal board and rotting alerts.
Both offer a free test: Close gives 14 days with no card and a 30-day money-back guarantee after you pay; Pipedrive gives 14 days with no card. Load the same 50 leads into both and run your call metric. Background: Close and Pipedrive.
