The short answer: if you are a founder or a small team keeping track of investors, partners, early clients and warm leads, you are maintaining relationships more than running a sales process, and folk's Standard plan covers that at $24 per member a month billed annually, on its pricing page. Once there are reps, stages and a forecast to hit, Pipedrive fits the work better, with automations and sequences on Growth at $39 per seat a month billed annually, per its pricing page. Both checked on 26 October 2026.

folk changes the starting object. Its records begin with people and companies sorted into groups, captured from LinkedIn, an inbox, a calendar or WhatsApp, with deals as an addition on its Premium plan. Pipedrive begins with the deal and asks who it belongs to. Neither is wrong; they suit different stages of the same company.

Rule of thumb, in three parts:

  1. Price the stage you are in. For example, three people. Without sequences: folk Standard is 3 x $288 = $864 a year and Pipedrive Lite is 3 x $168 = $504. With sequences: folk Premium is 3 x $576 = $1,728 and Pipedrive Growth is 3 x $468 = $1,404. Annual figures from the folk and Pipedrive pricing pages.
  2. Look at the list you already have. For example, if your spreadsheet holds 400 people and 12 live deals, most of the work is keeping in touch, and folk's groups and LinkedIn capture fit it. If it holds 80 deals across five stages, the pipeline is the work, and Pipedrive was built for that.
  3. Decide what you will count. Take your 30 most important relationships and count how many had a real touch in the last 30 days. Measure again after a month in the new tool. A relationship CRM earns its fee only if that number moves.

The differences that count

People first, or deals first

folk Standard includes pipeline management, groups and views, a LinkedIn extension and email, calendar and WhatsApp sync. You can see who you know and where each conversation stands without defining a deal. Pipedrive's plan features put customizable pipelines, deal rotting and activity management on every plan. Its question is always "what is the next step on this deal", which is the right question once revenue depends on it.

How outreach is metered

folk meters messages: 2,000 per member a month on Standard and 5,000 on Premium. Its sequences guide adds that a sequence reserves credits for every step before it sends. Its own example: three steps to 200 contacts needs 3 x 200 = 600 credits available, with the unused ones returned when people reply and drop out. Sequences also need a custom sender set up. Plan a launch to a large list around that reservation, not around the monthly total.

Where new contacts come from

folk's Chrome extension captures people from LinkedIn, and Standard includes finding 500 email addresses a month, per its pricing page. Pipedrive leaves lead capture to LeadBooster, an add-on from $32.50 that is bundled into Premium with routing and scoring. A founder who builds the list by hand on LinkedIn gets more from folk's capture; a team buying lead flow gets more from Pipedrive's routing.

Prices, checked on 26 October 2026

folk, per member a month, from its pricing page: Standard $24, Premium $48 and Enterprise from $80 billed annually ($288, $576 and $960 a year), or $30, $60 and from $100 billed monthly. Members are billed per workspace and prorated as you add or remove them.

Pipedrive, per seat a month, from its pricing page, in USD excluding VAT: Lite $14, Growth $39, Premium $59, Ultimate $79 on annual billing, or $24, $49, $79 and $99 monthly.

An agent step: the meeting recap, then the note

folk's MCP guide connects Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to mcp.folk.app/mcp through OAuth, with the same access your folk account has. Its own example prompt is the one to start with: "I'm meeting Antoine from Coca-Cola tomorrow, remind me what's happened recently." After the meeting, paste your notes and ask it to add them to his record and move the deal to the next stage. The human check: set the write tools in your AI client to ask before running, and read the note before it is saved. The guide also warns to connect only to the official endpoint.

What the trial is for

folk turns on a two-week trial with every premium feature and no card. Its FAQ says that if you do not upgrade, the account is blocked, the data is kept for now, and you can ask for one more week. A trial is there to get your contacts imported, so the decision arrives with your network already inside. Use folk's CSV export before day 14 if you decide against it.

Choose folk if

  • Your job is keeping a network warm: investors, partners, clients and introductions, run by a founder or a small team.
  • You build lists by hand from LinkedIn and your inbox.
  • You want simple email campaigns to groups before you need sales stages.

Choose Pipedrive if

  • Your job is a repeatable sales process with stages, reps and a forecast.
  • You want alerts on deals that stall, and automations from Growth.
  • Lead routing and scoring are on next year's list.

Free route first: a two-week folk trial and a 14-day Pipedrive trial, both without a card, with the same 50 contacts and 10 open deals in each. More: folk and Pipedrive.

FAQ

Does folk have deals and pipelines?

Pipeline management is on every plan; deals as their own object, with custom objects, come with Premium at $48 per member a month billed annually, per the pricing page checked on 26 October 2026.

How do folk's sequence credits work?

A sequence needs credits for its maximum number of messages before it sends, so three steps to 200 contacts requires 600. When the sequence ends, folk recalculates and adjusts for anyone who dropped out, per its sequences guide.

Can I try both without paying?

Yes. folk starts every workspace on a two-week trial with premium features, and Pipedrive offers 14 days, both without a credit card. folk's pricing page shows no free plan card, although its FAQ mentions downgrading to a free plan to cancel.
