The short answer: if you are a founder, partnerships lead or agency managing a few hundred relationships that start on LinkedIn, folk Standard covers capture, enrichment and email campaigns for $24 a member each month on annual billing, per the folk pricing page. If you are a team of up to three that wants a CRM for nothing, or a sales team that wants custom objects and workflows with AI agents, choose Attio: Free costs $0 for 3 seats and Plus $35 per seat billed annually, on the Attio pricing page. Both checked on 26 October 2026.

folk starts where people meet. Contacts arrive from a LinkedIn extension and from synced email, calendar and WhatsApp, and they live in groups you can build in a few minutes: investors, podcast guests, partners. Attio begins one step earlier, with the model itself. You decide what a company, a deal or a partner is, which attributes it carries and which workflow runs when it changes. One is a sharp tool for people. The other is a workshop for a process.
Before the trial clocks start:
- Price four people both ways. For example, folk Standard is 4 x $24 = $96 a month and Attio Plus 4 x $35 = $140, both billed annually. With email sequences, folk Premium is 4 x $48 = $192 and Attio Pro 4 x $79 = $316. Attio Free costs nothing for three people but caps sending at 200 emails per user a month. Figures from the folk and Attio pricing pages.
- Start from where your contacts already sit. A LinkedIn search, a spreadsheet of event leads, your inbox. folk fills groups from the first; Attio builds records from the last. Import the same 100 people into both and see which version you trust.
- Know what a sequence spends before you send it. folk reserves credits for every step up front, steps times recipients, so a sequence of four steps to 150 contacts needs 4 x 150 = 600 credits, per its sequences guide. Then judge the list by its reply rate, not its size.

Three differences that decide it
How contacts arrive
folk is built for the moment you meet someone: the LinkedIn extension captures a profile into a group, and synced email, calendar and WhatsApp add the history. Attio syncs email and calendar for each member and enriches companies and people from them, with attributes such as last interaction and connection strength. If your relationships begin in conversations on LinkedIn, folk catches them earlier. If they begin in email threads, the two start level.
Where the sending sits
folk sells sending by member and by month, generous on Standard, and puts sequences on Premium; they need a custom sender on your own domain, run up to 10 steps and stop for anyone who replies, per its sequences guide. Attio's plans article caps sends at 200 per user a month on Free and 1,000 on Plus, and reserves sequences for Pro. For newsletters to a relationship list, folk is the cheaper sender.
How far the automation goes
Attio's workflows run from a trigger through blocks that update records, enrol sequences or call AI agents that research and classify. folk's automation lives in assistants: one for follow-ups, one for recaps, one for research and a workflow assistant with a monthly allowance. Attio gives you a builder. folk gives you finished helpers.
Member and seat prices, checked on 26 October 2026
folk charges per member each month, on its pricing page: Standard $24 billed annually ($288 a year) or $30 monthly; Premium $48 ($576 a year) or $60; Enterprise from $80 ($960 a year) or from $100 monthly. folk takes payment by credit card only.
Attio's per-seat monthly prices on its pricing page: Free for up to 3 seats, Plus $35 on annual billing or $44 monthly, Pro $79 or $99, Enterprise on quote.
A follow-up the assistant drafts and you send
folk's Follow-up Assistant reads email threads with at least two exchanges in the last two months, one from you and one from the contact, and asks a language model whether an action is still pending. If the thread has gone quiet with something open, it notifies you and prepares a reply in your style. You click Follow-up, read the draft, edit what it got wrong and send it yourself; for WhatsApp it opens the conversation for you to write in. Set it up first: limit it to people you have met, choose after how long a conversation counts as quiet, and pick the groups it may watch. The assistant suggests; a person decides what leaves the outbox. In Attio, the closest step is a workflow whose agent block writes a suggested next step to an attribute for the owner to act on.
Use the free parts first
Attio's Free plan runs a three-person CRM with no end date listed. folk's trial needs no card, and if you do not upgrade, its help centre documents exporting a view as CSV from a blocked account, so trying it costs you nothing you cannot take back.
folk's trial switches on every Premium feature and Attio's gives new workspaces 14 days of Pro, so both teams spend their first fortnight on the upper tier, and the plan below feels like a downgrade on the day the bill starts. Write down which upper-tier features you used, by name, before the trial ends.
Choose folk if your job is
- Keeping partners, investors, creators or prospects in groups filled from LinkedIn and your inbox.
- Sending campaigns to a few hundred people from the entry plan, with enrichment included.
- Being told when a conversation went quiet, with a reply already drafted.
Choose Attio if your job is
- Running a CRM for up to three people at no cost.
- Modelling custom objects and building workflows with agent steps.
- Running a sales team on sequences and call intelligence.
Both have entries: folk and Attio. First projects: how to use folk and how to use Attio.
FAQ
Does folk have a free plan?
There is none listed. folk's pricing page shows Standard, Premium and Enterprise, and every workspace starts with a two-week trial of Premium features without a credit card.
Which is cheaper for email sequences?
folk. Sequences need folk Premium, $48 a member each month on annual billing, against Attio Pro at $79 per seat (prices read on the folk and Attio pages on 26 October 2026).
Can I send from Gmail on either?
Both connect a Google mailbox. folk's sequences, though, need a custom sender on your own domain, per its sequences guide, while Attio's plans article applies its monthly send limits per user, with hourly and daily limits on each synced mailbox.
