Wincher vs Semrush: A Rank Tracker or the Whole Suite

The short answer: you are not wrong to expect a rank tracker to cost less than a suite. Tracking 500 keywords a day costs $49 a month on Wincher's Basic plan and $139 on Semrush's SEO plan, both on monthly billing (Wincher pricing, Semrush pricing). Wincher is the pick when the ranking report is the deliverable. Semrush is the pick when rankings are one input among competitor research, backlinks and audits, and someone will use those every week.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Rule of thumb before you pick:

  1. Price the part you would not use. For example, $139 minus $49 is $90 a month, or 12 x $90 = $1,080 a year: that is what Semrush's research database costs you if all anyone opens is the position report, using the Wincher and Semrush pricing pages.
  2. Count keyword slots the way Wincher counts them. Its mobile tracking guide says each added device is a separate website, and its keywords count against your allowance again. For example, 400 keywords on desktop and mobile = 800 slots, which outgrows Basic's 500 and lands on Standard.
  3. Check the tracker against what Google already reports. For the same queries, compare the tracker's positions with Search Console's average position for a month. Where they agree, the tracker has done its job; where they differ, check the location and device settings first.

Top 30 against top 100

Wincher's API change log for 18 September 2025 says position tracking is now limited to the top 30 positions instead of 100, and its help centre explains that keywords outside that range show as ">30" (help article). For a site that already sits in the top 30 for its main terms, that covers what it needs to watch. For a new site working keywords up from position 60, it means weeks of ">30" before the report shows movement. Semrush's Position Tracking reports distribution down to the top 100, per its Position Tracking overview.

How long the daily line lasts

Semrush keeps daily data points for 60 days, then shows weekly snapshots taken on Wednesdays for 140 weeks, according to the same overview. Wincher's pricing page lists daily ranking updates on every plan and position history import from Standard, but does not say how long daily points are kept. Ask before you build a year-on-year report on either.

What surrounds the tracker

Semrush's tracker sits inside keyword research, backlink analysis, Site Audit and AI visibility tracking. Wincher keeps a smaller ring around it: Keyword Explorer with unlimited daily lookups, a SERP Benchmark against the top 10, an On-Page SEO checker and an AI content outliner, with keyword gap analysis from Standard, per its pricing page. If your team does its research elsewhere, the smaller ring is a feature.

Start with the free versions

If you run WordPress with Yoast SEO, Wincher's integration gives you a free account tracking 5 keywords with no time limit, per its Yoast article. Semrush's free account tracks 10 keywords for one website, according to the FAQ on its pricing page. Put your five most valuable keywords in both for two weeks. If the free counts cover the keywords that matter, you have your answer, and it cost nothing.

USD, from the Wincher pricing page and the Semrush pricing page, read on 24 October 2026. Wincher's prices rise with the keyword slider; the figures above are each plan's starting point. Its help centre describes annual billing as two months free, and its pricing FAQ offers a 7-day refund on a first purchase.

A tracker priced by keyword count is paid more for every keyword you add, whether anyone acts on it or not. That is the vendor's arithmetic, not yours. Track the keywords tied to a page that earns money, and leave the long tail of curiosity terms in Search Console, which reports them at no cost.

Handing the weekly read to an assistant

Semrush documents this one. Its MCP article describes a read-only link that lets Claude or ChatGPT query live keyword and ranking data, including monitoring workflows that watch keyword movements on a schedule. The article names Starter and Pro+ among the plans carrying 50,000 MCP API units per billing period. A useful weekly job: the assistant lists tracked keywords that fell more than 3 positions and drafts a note on which page each one belongs to. A person opens the live results page before anyone rewrites copy, since the cause of a drop is visible there: a new feature, a new competitor, or your own page swapped for another.

Wincher's own pages list no MCP server. It has a REST API on Standard and Professional, authenticated with a personal access token and limited to 5,000 requests an hour, per its API documentation, which suits a scheduled script more than a chat.

Choose Wincher if your job is

  • Reporting rankings for a set of sites, with scheduled PDF reports on every plan and white-label reports from Standard.
  • Tracking a few hundred to a few thousand keywords for a site that already ranks on page one or two.
  • Pulling ranking data into Looker Studio or your own scripts on a modest budget.

Choose Semrush if your job is

  • Working new keywords up from page five, where a top-100 view shows early movement.
  • Tracking positions alongside competitor research, backlinks and audits in one account.
  • Following rankings in Bing, ChatGPT Search or Google AI Mode as well as Google.

Each tool's entry has more: Wincher and Semrush.

FAQ

Does Wincher count mobile and desktop separately?

Yes. Its mobile tracking guide treats each device as a separate website, and keywords added to the new device count against your plan's allowance even when they repeat the desktop list.

Can I bring my ranking history over from another tracker?

On Standard and Professional. Wincher's pricing page lists position history import from Standard up, and its homepage describes migrating ranking history from previous providers.

Does Wincher connect to Search Console?

Yes, to import keywords. The Search Console guide asks for owner-level access to the property and allows up to 72 hours for the data to appear.
