The short answer: if you run one inside-sales team whose reps phone every new lead, choose Close: its Growth plan, $99 per user a month billed annually on the Close pricing page, adds workflows and the power dialer. If you run an agency with four or more client businesses, choose HighLevel: its Unlimited plan, $297 a month on the HighLevel pricing page, covers unlimited client sub-accounts, contacts and users. Both checked on 26 October 2026.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

People search this pair because both show up when a team asks for "a CRM that calls and texts." What HighLevel changes is who the customer is. Close sells a seat to a rep. HighLevel sells one subscription to an agency, which then builds a funnel, a calendar and a follow-up sequence for each client it serves.

Count these before you choose:

  1. Seats against clients. For example, five reps on Close Growth come to 5 x $99 = $495 a month billed annually, or 5 x $109 = $545 billed monthly. HighLevel Starter is $97 a month whatever the headcount, and Unlimited is $297, per the Close and HighLevel pricing pages. A sixth rep adds $99 on Close and nothing on HighLevel.
  2. The usage line under each. Close passes telephony through at cost: its pricing page puts typical outbound minutes near $0.02 and a phone number from roughly $1 a month. HighLevel charges email at $0.675 per 1,000 and phone at Twilio's rates, drawn from a wallet that refills from your card, per its pricing guide.
  3. What you run today. If the work is one company's leads, every HighLevel feature for clients is weight you carry. If it is several clients' lead flows, look for client sub-accounts, which Close's pricing page does not list.
  4. The number the trial must move. For Close, minutes from form submission to first call. For HighLevel, appointments booked per sub-account, which its Conversation AI dashboard reports.

Where they part ways

The unit on the invoice

Close grows with people. HighLevel grows with clients: Starter stops at three sub-accounts, and Unlimited removes the cap, which is the line its pricing FAQ draws between the two plans. For an agency at nine clients, the cost per client falls with every client signed; for a single sales team, the sub-account model has nothing to divide by.

Phone first, or funnel first

Close's calling sits inside the lead record. On Growth the power dialer works through a list and workflows stop on their own when a lead replies, calls back or books a meeting, which its workflows guide calls workflow goals; Scale adds predictive dialing and live call coaching. HighLevel starts earlier in the journey, with the website, the funnel, the form and the booking calendar, and treats calls and texts as channels in one conversations inbox. A team that lives on the phone will feel the difference on day one.

How the AI is paid for

Close says access to Chloe, its AI sales agent, is free on every plan, and you pay for her work from AI credits, plus telephony when she calls. HighLevel bills Conversation AI and Voice AI by use, or through AI Employee, a flat $50 or $97 for each sub-account every month, per its pricing guide, which also notes that phone charges still apply to Voice AI calls.

What each one charges, checked on 26 October 2026

Close charges per user each month, annual billing first and monthly second, on its pricing page. Solo is $9 or $19, limited to 1 user and 10,000 leads, with no workflows. Essentials is $35 or $49, with forms, email, calling and SMS, and still no workflows. Growth is $99 or $109, with workflows, the power dialer and bulk email. Scale is $139 or $149, adding predictive dialing and lead visibility rules.

HighLevel charges per agency, monthly first and yearly second, on its pricing page. Starter is $97 or $970, with 3 sub-accounts. Unlimited is $297 or $2,970, with unlimited sub-accounts and rebilling of phone and email at cost. Agency Pro is $497 or $4,970, adding SaaS Mode and rebilling with a markup.

A read-only agent for the morning call list

Close documents a small agent you can build in n8n without code: a Chat Trigger, an AI Agent node with the model of your choice, and an MCP Client Tool pointed at https://mcp.close.com/mcp with your API key as a header, per its MCP server guide. The same page notes that n8n supports only the read scope. That limit is the human check, and a useful one: the sales lead asks the agent in plain language which new leads still have no call, the agent answers from live data, and a rep makes the calls and logs them in Close. Nothing the agent says changes a record. When you later want an assistant that writes, Close offers a safe write scope and a separate one that can delete, chosen at connection time.

Try both without paying

Close's trial runs 14 days without a card, and its pricing page adds a 30-day money-back guarantee. HighLevel's trial also runs 14 days, but its pricing page warns that billing starts by itself at the end unless you cancel, and that phone or third-party usage can be charged during the trial. So on HighLevel, put a reminder on day 13.

The two pricing pages are written for different buyers. HighLevel's FAQ lists the subscriptions most users replace: CRM, funnel builder, email marketing, scheduler, SMS and review tools. Close's headline promises to scale a sales team without adding headcount. Behind HighLevel's flat fee sits a default worth reading twice: whenever the balance dips below the floor set in billing, the wallet charges your saved card again, per its pricing guide, so usage revenue keeps arriving without anyone approving a payment. Choose that minimum and the recharge amount yourself before the first campaign goes out.

Choose Close if your job is

  • Phoning each new inbound lead while the form is still fresh, from the record it created.
  • Running a team of reps through call lists with power or predictive dialing.
  • Selling for one company, with one pipeline to manage.

Choose HighLevel if your job is

  • Building funnels, forms, calendars and follow-up for several client businesses.
  • Putting your own brand on the web app, or selling the platform as your product through SaaS Mode.
  • Keeping software cost flat as the team grows, with usage billed separately and rebilled to clients.

No. Every plan includes unlimited contacts and users; the plans differ by the number of client sub-accounts, three on Starter and unlimited above it, per the HighLevel pricing page.

Which Close plans include workflows?

Growth and Scale only, per Close's workflows guide. Solo and Essentials include calling, email and SMS, but not automated workflows.

On HighLevel, yes: Unlimited and Agency Pro can rebill phone and email at cost, and only Agency Pro can add a markup, per the pricing guide.
