The short answer: if you suspect HubSpot Professional is more than a ten-person sales team needs, Zoho CRM's price list agrees: its Professional edition is $23 per user a month billed annually, with workflow automation already in the free edition for 3 users, per the Zoho CRM pricing page. HubSpot Sales Hub Professional is $90 per seat a month billed annually plus a required $1,500 onboarding, per its pricing page. Choose Zoho if someone on your side will configure it; choose HubSpot if you want marketing, sales and service ready-made on one record. Both checked on 26 October 2026.

Zoho changes the unit you buy. HubSpot sells hubs, each with its own seat price. Zoho sells a CRM priced per user, sitting inside a family of business apps that you can also buy whole as Zoho One. The more of your company already runs on Zoho, the more that matters.
Before you compare feature lists:
- Price ten users for a year. For example: Zoho Standard is 10 x $14 x 12 = $1,680 and Professional is 10 x $23 x 12 = $2,760. HubSpot Sales Hub Starter is 10 x $7 x 12 = $840, and Professional is 10 x $90 x 12 = $10,800 plus $1,500 onboarding, so $12,300. All on annual billing, from the Zoho and HubSpot pricing pages.
- Look at the apps you already pay for. If finance runs Zoho Books or support runs Zoho Desk, the CRM joins data that exists. If marketing already sends from HubSpot, the reverse holds, and Sales Hub adds reps to a record that already has every form fill.
- Pick the speed you will measure. Take the hours between a new lead arriving and a rep's first contact, over the last 30 leads. Automation is the reason to pay for either; that number shows whether it ran.
The comparison in one table
| Check | Zoho CRM | HubSpot | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free tier | 3 users, with workflow automation, reports and APIs | 2 users, free tools across hubs | Zoho for headcount, HubSpot for breadth |
| Automation on the entry paid tier | Standard, $14, adds multiple pipelines, forecasting, mass email | Starter, $7, up to 50 workflows with restricted triggers | Zoho |
| Required onboarding | None listed; the page advertises free onboarding | $1,500 Sales Professional, $3,500 Enterprise | Zoho |
| Suite option | Zoho One, $37 per employee a month for all employees | Hubs bought one by one | Depends on headcount |
| Marketing on the same record | Via Zoho CRM Plus or Zoho One | Marketing Hub on the shared CRM | HubSpot |
| AI agents by MCP | Four pre-built servers, one of them read-only | One remote server with a confirm step before writes | Even |

What decides it
Automation before you pay much
Zoho lists workflow automation in its free edition and adds multiple pipelines, built-in calling, forecasting and custom modules on Standard. HubSpot's free tier has no workflows on its Sales Hub page; Starter allows up to 50 with restricted triggers and actions, and fully customizable workflows start at Professional. If your process needs rules on day one and the budget is small, Zoho gets there first.
The suite around the CRM
Zoho One bundles more than 50 apps on one invoice, at $37 per employee a month billed annually when you license every employee, or $67 per user a month billed annually on flexible pricing, per its pricing page. HubSpot sells its hubs separately, all on one customer record. One gives you breadth across the business; the other gives you depth around the customer.
Who will build it
Zoho Professional adds process management, CPQ, customer portals and AI agents; Enterprise adds approval processes, a developer sandbox and custom functions. That is power you configure. HubSpot charges for required onboarding instead and arrives with its objects and stages defined. A company with an operations person who enjoys building will get more from Zoho; one without will get further, faster, with HubSpot.

An agent step, read-only first
Zoho's MCP overview splits agent access into four pre-built servers: Data Insights, Data Operations, Module Customization and Workflow. Data Insights is read-only. Install that one in Claude first and ask "show me all the deals closing this month" or "how many leads were created last week". The Data Operations server can create, update and bulk-delete records, and the overview's own example prompt deletes every deal stuck in a stage since March. So make the human check structural: a person reviews the read-only answers for a few weeks, and the write server goes in only once the team trusts the prompts. Calls through MCP use the same API credits as any other API call.
The suite price, worked out
A suite price is designed to make the whole suite the default. Zoho One's all-employee price requires licences for every employee on payroll, per its pricing page. For example, a 40-person company with 6 people in the CRM pays 40 x $37 x 12 = $17,760 a year for Zoho One, against 6 x $23 x 12 = $1,656 for CRM Professional alone. That is good value if the other 34 use the other apps, and a large bill if they do not.
Choose Zoho CRM if
- Your job is running a sales process with rules, approvals and quotes, and someone on your side likes building them.
- You already use Zoho apps, or want one vendor for finance, support and sales.
- Budget per user matters more than a ready-made marketing hub.
Choose HubSpot if
- Your job is a single customer record shared by marketing, sales and service from day one.
- You want defined objects and stages rather than a platform to configure.
- Your marketing already runs in HubSpot.
Start on the free tiers: three users on Zoho's free edition and two on HubSpot's free tools, each with last month's leads. If the trial turns into a debate about which suite the whole company should standardise on, that is a stack decision rather than a CRM one, and a one-week review like the Startup Fixer is built for it. Entries: Zoho CRM and HubSpot.
FAQ
Is Zoho CRM free?
For up to 3 users, yes, with no credit card required and workflow automation, standard reports and APIs included, on the pricing page read on 26 October 2026. Paid editions add pipelines, forecasting and AI agents.
Does Zoho charge for onboarding like HubSpot?
Its pricing page advertises free onboarding and human support. HubSpot requires a one-time onboarding on Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise, at $1,500 and $3,500, on its pricing page.
Can an AI agent delete records in Zoho CRM?
Through the Data Operations MCP server, yes, including bulk operations, within the user's CRM permissions. The Data Insights server is read-only, which makes it the safer one to connect first.
